  1. Sorted ! Those drivers did the job, going like a gudden 👍. Thanks all Steve
  2. Found some 64 bit drivers on Atik forum will give them a shot tomorrow thanks. Steve
  3. Mmmm ta for that clearly it does work in Win 10!. I was just trying the filter wheel in Artemis without a ccd attached, maybe it needs the ccd attached first??. I was using my Atik 314 power lead for the filterwheel so I’ll knock up another power lead so I can try both at the same time. Can’t see McAfee anti virus doing anything but you never know will disable that too. I’m using my desktop for these so the front usb’s are in use all the time!. One guy with the same problem was advised on the Cloudy Nights forum to right click on Artemis in services in Task Master but I tried that and Artemis is not even listed in services?. Steve
  4. Yes tried that thanks, it worked perfectly last time I used it (Win 7 I think) a few years ago but stopped using when I went into spectroscopy, shame nicely engineered piece of kit! Steve
  5. Guys Dug out my old Atik EFW2 filter wheel for a project I`m trying but struggling to get it to work under Windows 10 anyone have luck with this wheel with Win 10 please?. Managed to source an old copy of Artemis but it still kicks out errors plugging it in and telling me to try plugging in again? . It all seems in order and the wheel does its rotating routine when first powered up and stops at position 1 . Running out of ideas what to try as I`ve tried loading Artemis as Admin and also win 7 compatibility but no joy. It seems on a few forums that this wheel did have connection problems with Win 10. cheers Steve
  6. Have to say Ive tried them all and as an Alpy user I always come back to ISIS . The reason being that I use the Relco Argon/Neon bulb for calibration and selecting 'Alpy600 calibration module' (which uses the same bulb) it's simply a case of entering the spectrum you want to calbrate then the Relco spectrum in ISIS and voila its calibrated no picking spectral lines ,no entering wavelengths. It already knows the Relco lamp settings and which line is which!. Steve
  7. Steve Apparantly ‘Spectragryph’ works ok under Wine on Linux here https://www.effemm2.de/spectragryph/down.html He offers non commercial users a free licence but only when you have tried the free trial version for a while. Im slowly plodding through it purely because I’m adapting my spectroscope for microscopy and been advised to try it although I can certainly vouch for both BASS and ISIS on Windows. It has a bit of a learning curve but not easy as tutorials are a bit thin on the ground and it’s lacking a full manual too. Steve
  8. Ken has John managed to get Bass working on Linux yet?.The OP doesn’t use Windows. Steve
  9. Many moons ago when I got my Pulsar dome I did wonder about the aperture of the dome slit. At the time I had an 8" Celestron and a 80mm scope piggy backed on top and very occasionally I did seem to struggle getting both visible through the slit. They were mounted on an EQ6. I`m not sure without measuring mine but you might be ok with a 14" but might struggle with a finder scope especially with the contortions you (or at least I did) end up in!. Steve
  10. Need to get shears out near mine Nigella 😁. Great observatories though, I fitted mine about 14yrs ago and that was second hand. Good luck with the obs!. Cheers Steve
  11. Hi Alan I had Affinity photo before it went on the MS store and all of us who had it were asked to beta test Affinity designer before it was released and afterwards they let us all keep a copy. Excellent company never had a problem with upgrades but I have had the odd hiccup with other apps on the MS store especially updating them! Steve
  12. II have some windows could do with a good clean, do you happen to travel Northwards? 😉
  13. Would restoring Windows back to before you installed the PI updates help?. I'm not 100% but I understand it reverts the registry back too!
  14. Looks very Palomarish ! 😋
  15. If I remember correctly it’s all down to the magnitude of the object, if you set the limit to say mag 15 then a mag 16 object shouldn’t show, its also down to Cdc field of view as you zoom out it only shows brighter objects otherwise fully zoomed out you would have nearly a white screen with everything brighter than 15 shown. Steve
  16. I actually had some success using a disposable camera circuit from Asda using the info from a site like this one http://www.marcellocucchi.altervista.org/html/neonlamp.html Can't seem to find the English version!
  17. I have this idea for a new type of scope which (in my head at least if it worked) could be useful even with a variable focal length and one day I might get round to making it ! Steve
  18. One interesting thing I found out regarding the starter bulbs. While Shelyak were developing the Alpy 600 software 'Demetra' I sent a few spectra I had taken to François which threw up a discrepancy with no Hydrogen lines showing in the reference spectrum. It turned out that the Hydrogen in my Relco bulb had all but disappeared maybe with use or leakage??? Which reminds me I need to change it! Steve
  19. Hi louise Just realised I ordered some Relco starters quite a while back I'd be happy to send you a few if you like? Steve
  20. If I remember correctly a hollow under either end for fingers, best to have look yourself to see if its suitable!
  21. Nice one Andrew, do these flares have periods or just occur anytime? Steve
  22. I know it's a pain Adam but Flo will sort it👍. Been enjoying my Flo bought Espirit 120 for years now without a scrap of bother!. Steve
  23. Will have to dig around for those, not sure I ever took some of the box. I think it was very similar to this one. https://www.diy.com/departments/black-grey-189l-plastic-storage-box/255195_BQ.prd But I would double check the sizes!
  24. Got a great little box for my C8 from B&Q some time back. Made some plywood cradles for it with some felt in. It's hard plastic with a matching lid and size was perfect! Sold the C8 some time back though now a refractor chap😁
