Quick M31 from last night/this morning...

I wasn't intending on doing any imaging, I was just testing some kit. Haven't been out for ages and forgot almost everything, imaging in this country is like a new experience every time... Anyway I was testing guiding, giving me a bit of grief, but getting there. Clouds and mist certainly didn't help. Still good to be out for a change. So just a quick one with some quick and dirty processing.

10x 300 second milky/cloudy subs @ ISO1600 using a modified Canon 6D and a Canon 500mm f/4 L IS lens. Quite disappointed that there wasn't much Hα blotches captured in the spiral arms, but it really was poor seeing.

Wow! I've managed a fairly good (IMO) M31 with my 1100D and Canon 300/4L but that was 4 hours worth of subs. Your image is incredible for that amount of exposure. Damn it, I want a modded 6D! Please add a few more hours to that stack because I really want to see it!

Oh, I forgot to mention that your editing is top class!

Thanks again guys...I am busy re-processing this image as I think there may be more data in it than I initially thought. Guiding was off as there is some star trailing at 1:1 viewing....really struggling with guiding with PHD2...still investigating what the issue is.

Here's a single unprocessed sub as it appears in PS and also the rotated and cropped stack with just an initial MaskedStretch applied ready for processing.......

Here's another "quick" updated image...I redid my flats and more Hα started to show if you look at the blotchy red bits in the spiral arms...I will be adding to this data set whenever I can and will process it "properly" then...I don't feel there is enough data to go too far with this one......
