sorry i know this thread must be getting tired now but i had to share this email i got

You sir are a liar, brilliant idea of yours to edit hubble pictures to

make them look a tad more amateurish.

On the horse head it is actually the same picture as the hubble, it is

slightly rotated a few color and constrast adjustments and voila...

otherwise how can you explain that none of the picture elements look

different, the shape of the horsehead, the nebula "smoke" etc... surely

this would have moved a little in between the two pictures would have

been taken.

Thanks for your attention,

Franz Kruhm

i did send him a reply thanking him for his comments. but for some reason i cant find it in my sent box :)

Oh dear. Prepare for upcoming loony emails. :D

Smashing pics by the way. Allison showed them to me from the Metro she picked up on public transport in Glasgow.

Cheers,

Andy.

some people really are clueless. I know what id send in reply to that. But it cant be posted online or said before the watershed. There might be a few no sweary words, dont know though?

some people are amazingly ignorant. it amazes me that they can function.

I am impressed he knew how to spell, use punctuation, turn on a PC, log in to his emails, type using a keyboard, use the mouse and then press the send button.

my congratulations to him!

pathetic. Why do we suffer with these fools?

also, astology! i hate it when people ask me about star signs because i have a degree in astronomy!

unbelievable....

rant over

Peter

Do what I did when some buffoon accused me of the same...send him the entire raw data set..and links to Maxim DL and Photoshop trials...then point him at some instructions and finally at a slew (pardon the pun) of other work by like minded amateurs..

Then tell him that what he is saying to you is slanderous/defamatory (pick your own legal term) and if he doesn't publicly say sorry you'll sue him..

In fact., use Jing to also record your way through stacking and colour stacking the files...to the end result ...and then sue him anyway..

Take no prisoners

I honestly don't think that article is that inaccurate! The line 'And the vivid photos taken with £20,000 equipment have stunned astronomers and been compared to those captured by the £2.5billion Hubble space telescope.' does not say that they were as good as, just that they were compared to. Nowt wrong in that.

Of course, we are not exactly 'stunned' though, are we chaps/chapesses?

Great job getting our hobby out there though Peter!

Cheers,

Richie

Depends which one you mean...?

Cutting "hole in the roof"... and..well...the Hubble does utterly dump on pretty much any amateur shot when it wants to.....

I agree though that it's magic the amount of exposure this got for the hobby of astrology :-)

You'll get their gypsy outfits and crystal balls wet!!

hehehe

I've always wanted to know what those Astrologer types do with people born under the sign of Ophiuchus..:).:D Do they shove 'em under Saggitarius, or pack them off to Siberia?

That take the biscuit Pete. Amazing how dumb some people can be. Well done on getting the pics published despite the poor reporting on it :D

We went to an eighteenth birthday party last night and ended up on conversation about this as it also made page 3 of the Western Mail.

All good stuff. And our friend now wants some more astro pictures to go on the wall in his workshop, so I'd better get cracking.......

A great boost for amateur Astro Imagery spoiled by Inept reporters.

I'm sure you meant reporters, period. :)

Honestly though, the more I understand about any subject the more I see how most reports just don't have a clue about what they are covering and make up facts to sell their stories. The whole type A flue end-of-the-world, doom-day hysteria is just a recent example.

There are a few exceptions but just a few!

Wow... That just sucks - abuse like that I am sure you can do without! The amount of time that we all spend, you included Peter, to produce our images, and then getting called a liar... I am with Nick on the sue front for this guy! Shame he didn't make his comments public, eh?
