Late August, Manitoulin Island? Skies are unbelievable, and the limit on perch is 100 per day.

Hey! I've been there! We took the ferry over in, gulp, 1968. Has it changed much?

TBH, I don't think so. Nobody is building factories or condos on it, as far as I know. It's still pretty unspoilt.

I'm thinking of having a brick party at my house I,can supply the vino the guests bring some bricks or breeze blocks only need another 1100 to complete my obseritory now

We have Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks down here - wonderful dark-sky locations :stars:

Oh, and we do some fine pasties and cream teas

Last years Brecon Beacons location was perfect. Completely detached from the main site and not disturbing anyone. Superb views and a truly dark sky.

I wasn't able to go to that one but seem to remember people saying that it was a bit dewy?

Perhaps somewhere higher up would be good.

I was down to warm days and rapid cooling at night. Don't think it was a characteristic of the location. It is actually quite high up.

TBH I want to make the SGL Party happen, more so after not going to Kelling this year (having bought our pitch! :?).

I think that south would be better for me. What about Dorset way it's pretty dark over by the somerset border and there is a lovely pub in West Stour.

I hope it comes off for you. I hope to be able to surprise you one of these years. I'll be retired soon, I hope, and that would allow me to take a long vacation in England. It's one of my dreams. Think my relatives could put up with me for six weeks? I would go to a star party if there was one. Don't hold yer breath just now, though. Someday... :sunny:
