My EP Collection with Info.. post yours?

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd clean the kit bag out today.. so while all was out on the table thought it would be a good time to take a photo of my EP collection

Moonfish 30mm UWA 2" EP - Space walk views, does pull stars on outer 30% in my f6, less in the f7

Sterling 25mm 55 degree - Nice contrast DSO EP (TV Plossl perfomance)

Skywatcher 27mm 53 degree - Great contrast, and inky black background. Does pull stars on outer 20%

SmartAstronomy 18mm & 12.5mm 53 degree LER. Nice on the eye, great colour correction in both scopes I have. A little soft at times on planets, this is down to seeing (a little sensitive) but its nothing that bothers me TBH. Super EPs for Lunar!

Antares 7mm Ortho (Japan made). This is one sharp EP!.. fantastic in the f6

Orion Shorty Plus APO Barlow x 2 - Had this for years. Solid Barlow producing the best image performance for under £50!.

Here's mine...

All kept nice 'n' snug in a £19.99 (sale price), aluminium flight case from Maplin... perfect!

Not quite sure what I'm going to do when the rest of the Ethos set come in late August! Perhaps separate the eyepieces from the accessories....

"WHAT WAS THAT!!!"

Nothing Dear...!:)

Damian,

That case looks pretty good, did it come with the foam? It looks like the stuff that's cut in to small squares so you can remove the bits you don't want, which looks very handy...

Yes, you're correct - case and foam for £19.99 (should have been £29.99).

I believe Maplin are selling them now for £19.99 with free delivery over £35.

To be honest, it's cheaper to buy the whole thing than the foam on it's own!

It is already pre-cut into squares and I just used a scalpel to cut down through the 2 or 3 retaining notches of foam (between each square)....

It just means I can take out one box with all my eyepieces in, as I only have a portable set-up and want to have the easiest/quickest set-up possible.

Hope that helps....

Damian

Crikey, the only thing I can match is the Maplins flight case :)

My EP collection is not the best but for my budget, adequate I think.

TV Plossl 40mm

Meade 4000 series plossl 32mm

SW super plossl 25mm

Celestron Plossl 13mm

TV Nagler 13 mm (my pride and joy even though it is a type 1)

SW plossl 10mm (rubbish)

Meade 3000 series plossl 5mm (great planetary EP)

Celestron XD Barlow 2x

I'll be upgrading most of the plossls this year to TV but I'll be keeping the Meades, and I think that there is a gap to fill between 13mm and 25mm
