AR 2965, a magnificent complex region

Recommended Posts

I had 2 view of this today, 10am and 1 pm. The seeing was pretty good in the morning 8/10, but it had deteriorated by dinnertime. The AR is a sprawling mass of spots, containing a few light bridges, well worth a look over the next few days if the skies allow.

It is impressive Pete.  I was out early this morning observing it with the Altaire 80 ED-R.

I took a single frame at 7.19am with the Olympus.  Below is the pic with a crop.  Low-res, but it gives an idea of what's going on.  Fingers crossed its clear tomorrow when it should be close to the CM.

We had a weather system moving in so I could only get a few minutes observing thru sucker holes yesterday.

In white light that is an impressive storm on the sun!

The large single spot had disappeared, but the other spots were visible.
