Use towels in the bowl or sink you are cleaning it in as said before be careful.

Still not done it yet! Been side tracked by my wife wanting to go to shops. She going out with the dogs later. I"m getting mentally prepared to jump into action.

It's nice and clean at the moment, but not back in yet. 2 of the mirror clamp bolts broke off. There are 10 more so I am going to see how it holds. If it shifts around I will see if i can replace them.

A thing of beauty. Well done. I have been there once before and it still leaves a chill.

Time to visit my doctor to see if my crossed fingers will ever work again.

I had an odd situation when I did mine. There was a long blond hair across the mirror. I made the mistake of pointing this out to my wife who has dark Afro hair.

I can honestly say that my grade 4 buzz cut is not the culprit, and I am sure that I have never seen a long haired blonde at my scope. I am sure that having a telescope means that I am immune from female attention. Not to mention my interesting repartee about the difference between magnitude and apparent magnitude.

Yeh, still got it going on.

In all seriousness, good job. Your mirror is your astronomy, no matter if it is five inch or sixteen. Gateway to the heavens requires equal respect regardless of size.

Yes the bolts were in so tight that two of them just sheared off.

The words clamp and mirror should never be in the same sentence!  Make sure the mirror is free to turn before replacing the cell into the tube.     🙂

I couldn't loosen the clamp bolts on my 250px, so i just stuck the cell under the shower with the mirror 😉  It was grand!

I came very close to cleaning it in the cell because the bolts were so tight.  I was lucky to only break two of them!
