Heya,

It was raining all morning with total cloud cover. Went to town and ran errands instead. But, to my surprise, around noon, the sky cleared up and seeing was pretty good. Managed to get some data on AR2733, it's starting to calm down and the umbra are fading, but the plage is still large and there's activity going on. There's some rather nice prominences around the limb, but one particularly interesting one making a show.

Magnificent as always, i'm assuming you shoot in mono then colonize after? if so how do you achieve such stunning colour? this summer i will give solar imaging the old college try. I will pin one of your photos above my computer as the standard by which i'll measure myself.

Those splendid sun pics you took look pretty hot...pardon the pun.  Awesome images of the sun!

Sorry for the delay, yes I shoot monochrome 8 bit for the acquisition. I color later in post. The color scheme is the same each time, I colorize using a preset levels value (red set to 1.6, green set to 0.8, blue set to 0.2). Then manipulate mid-tones via levels and contrast via contrast adjustments to taste.

Very best,
