Venus in UV from 2-6-2018

Another daylight session on Venus, but the conditions were clearly better than recently. Captured in daylight, at an altitude around 30 degrees.

The usual set up, C9.25, Asi290mm, X1.8 Barlow & Baader UV filter. 15,000 frames captured, stacked 10% Some nice detail visible again.

Stacked in A/S2, sharpened in CS2.

Nice. Do you also image it in infrared?

Yes I have done many times, especially when the phase gets really thin and there isn't much chance of cloud detail.

This was with an Astronomik 807 IR pass filter, at around 2% illuminated. A tough target, helped very much by this filter.

Just realised my camera has one built in over the sensor, so don’t need one. I guess I need to alter gain and exposure settings, along with perfect focus to try to capture any cloud details.

I think you will struggle to capture much detail without a UV filter.

I have seen some examples though over the years that have.
