New flooring for the Obsy

Hi Every one, this might have been done before on SGL

so ill keep it brief.

When I went to B and q with the Wife this morning, I noticed these packs of interlocking

Floor tiles, on the packaging it said they are suitable for sheds, garages and the like,

They are a around 9mm/10mm thick and feel quite hard wearing, plus they are weather resistant

Its like walking on carpet now at £9 a pack I needed 2 packs and used 1.5 packs for a 6 foot square Obsy.

They cut nice with a sharp pair of scissors.

I have the same stuff and it's lovely underfoot. Even better, if you drop something, it bounces! Remember to leave a good space around the edges, though, or it will ruck up in warmer weather.

Looks good, and it will last for years! I used these interlocking mats for my obsy floor and they've been down since 2011, and are still as good as new. I also clad the walls with them, which is great for absorbing stray light!

I have these too, they are great, but as stated above they balloon up in the hot weather, every year I keep shaving a little bit more off them.

+1 for these kind of tiles.  I used them in my observatory too, like many others on here.  

Dead easy to fit and do a great job.

I've found that spray on carpet glue holds them securely in place without noticeable expansion, even in hot weather. The mats can still be peeled off quite easily if need be.

Interesting, I might look into that, I am glad they will peel off as occasionally I get a leak in the obsy and have to lift a tile or two to let the area dry out (with the dehumidifier).

Is this an observatory or a padded cell?

I had interlocking mats and after a fairly short time, they'd sagged and were pretty useless. I've resorted to floor paint!

I too have the interlocking mats - love 'em   They do need a gap round the edge for expansion in warm weather though as has been said.  They've saved ooodles of money on dropped kit which was not damaged

Definitely a padded cell Michael!  Brilliant for playing squash with a binoviewer, as I found out a couple of nights ago!
