Jupiter moon transit with x1.5 drizzle

That's come out nicely Pete a bit softer but still retaining some good detail! The 618- 9.25 combo if that's what your using, will allow big fl, sometimes its difficult to get good focus, we all struggle with it but higher resolution is the only way to tease out extra detail!

I mostly use the ASI120mm for my planetary imaging. I tried my newly acquired x1.8 Barlow last night, despite the horrible conditions it looks very promising. The focal length according to Firecapture was 5000mm instead of 6000 with the x2 Barlow.

Nice up sample Pete.

Its actually Stuart singing the praises of what drizzle can do, that makes me often think about it, and use it myself.

Though undersampled images apparently benefit the most according to Emil

So perfect for this run

Good job

If you could master your higher FL work. I am sure the separation and ultimately quality,   will increase a lot Pete. Its hard with all the bad seeing we are getting. But if seeing isn't up to it. losing FL, or I should say too much of it, isn't the answer I don't think.

Losing too much separation on the features hinders very fine detail to the eye.  So is worth pushing a bit past your comfort zone here, even if it feels wrong doing so. When you get calmer air and nail focus. Tust me you will be glad you did I reckon.

But of course it may be a tricky road getting accustomed  to it, at first.

I wont go below 4800mm FL with the Orion. Most often I am higher than this. I look at this way, if I cant get a good shot, at my lowest FL, Then either there is a problem somewhere (and we know the many problems that can hinder higher FL work ) Or the seeing just isn't up to it

In which case  its not your night. have to wait for the better seeing. I have looked at it like this, many years. it has served me well.

The reason I keep talking about this Pete is, it can be more important than a lot of people realize. And I really believe. you can go up a level. And when you do, to hear the excitement, that progression can make. When a crackerjack shot is earned,   is a wonderful thing I think

I know you are getting the barlow. So good call And nice upsample once again
