And an intruder during the H alpha session.

So much going on up there today it's difficult to tear yourself away!

Thanks for the great views in three lights, David. How are you finding seeing and CaK? You seem to be knocking them out with good detail, the shorter wavelength was something I was a little worried about.

I read the same sorts of information about how most scopes were not good for Ca-K and how the seeing is always bad at 393nm. I may have just been lucky with my scope! I have not had that many sessions to comment on seeing but so far every session has yielded something I could use (I've posted most of it here so you can see the results). I think every session so far has been an early morning and I try to avoid imaging middle of the day but then I do that for white light and H alpha as well. I am sure in time I will come across seeing that I cannot do anything with or maybe I am just not as fussy about the quality of my images as others

Always like to see the CaK.  The aircraft capture is rather smart too.

Any thoughts on the Ha though?  Seems odd to have an artefact appearing in straight lines like that?

James

My assumption was this was a manifestation of Newton's Rings. I only get this pattern when using a barlow between the scope and camera. I can usually flatten it out but couldn't be bothered with flats today (they are a pain because I cannot get full chip illumination via the PST with any of my barlows, need to go to a 3x at some point).

Seems strange to me but with the same barlow and camera, I do not get the same problem when shooting in white light or Ca-K via the Evostar.

Thanks for the info David. Same here with my 120mm, I tend to shoot mornings only, I find my 120mm and Quark is usable most of the time and found some comments about 100mm+ scopes and seeing were overly pessimistic compared to my reality. Middle of the day, maybe a problem, yes. Though I will review my winter captures to see if I should step down to 85mm this winter.

Is your Evostar the achro or ED?
