SIMPLE v BLOCK FOR COLLIMATING LASER

I shamelesly robbed this idea. Normally would be happy to give credit, as this is a great idea, but forgot where it came from.

I use a bit of double back tape on the contact points of the tool to the table when the laser is pointed at a wall at a farther distance than the FL of the scope, then tape a piece of paper to the wall with the laser dot in the middle and...Bob's your uncle (?).

Am I missing something here I don't understand what that will tell you, I thought a laser should shin it's beam perpendicular to the plain of the focuser.

You use it to check the laser...You rotate the laser in the "V-block" and see if the distant spot stays still or goes round in a circle... if it's the latter you adjust it...

I use steel angle bar. Just clamp it to the bench and attach the laser collimator to the bar with rubber rings.

That works! In my case I had all the PVC pieces in my junk drawer.

One of the challenges of living in very rural S.E. Asia is finding "stuff" . Anything you can easily make at home with available materials is golden

Agree that's a nice piece, but at 4x the cost, it should be. I'm on a pension and my time is free. Once collimated my cheap laser has been lovely.

4 nails whacked into any old bit of timber. Put the nails in to form a X, separate each pair by a suitable distance. Cheap as chips.

True- but the best use for cheap laser 'collimators' I've found is to convert them to a Barlowed Laser Collimator
