Perseids success

Last night was a bit cloudy for the Perseids peak, but still picked up 99 meteors with the new camera (Watec 902H2 Ultimate)

Here are just three of them.

Unfortunately the compressions algorithmns used by Youtube completely mash meteor videos - the sky ends up a mess with blocky onion rings of gradient. 

I'm experimenting with Flickr and Vimeo to see if I can get an acceptable quality.

I loved the second clip, fantastic how the meteor just come out through that cloud, very dramatic.  Thanks for the post, especially as I was clouded out!

It's a Computar HG2610AFCS 2.6mm F1.0 DC auto iris lens. They're discontinued, but I managed to pick it up on EBay a few months ago.

The software is called UFOCapture. It does the detection, capture and overlay. Don't be fooled by the name - it's a very sophisticated and complex piece of scientific software. Unfortunately it has a similarly sophisticated price tag of £152. A cheaper alternative is HandyAVI software at only around $40 I think.

think they would sell more of the software if they changed the name..not heard any bad reviews on it..and it is expensive

No idea why I said that, I did mean Watec, I have a few 902H and 903H supreme cameras just looking for a good ultra wide lens.
