seen pros and cons for a skywatcher 130 but i  think ill pitch in with one as it seems to do all i really want (at first) without breaking the bank. Just one small question whats the difference between a 130 and a 130eq ? thankies in advance

There are a number of different 130mm scope combinations in Skywatcher's range including a dobsonian, one on a tracking alt-az mount, one on a GOTO alt-az mount and at least a couple on equatorial mounts (with and without motors).  The EQ means it's on an equatorial mount.

There are two different focal lengths of 130mm OTA, too.  Most are 650mm I think, but there's also a 900mm version that might perhaps be regarded as having a bit more of a bias towards solar system viewing.
