Hello altogether,

my name is Matze, I'm 21 years old an I live in the

the western part of Germany NRW.

At the moment I attend university and study "Economy

and Politics of Asia" . Its a real enjoyable and interesting

subject, with many different fields of learning and research

possibilities. But it takes a lot of time and work, to keep up

to date, so I decided that I would need a new hobby to

relax and have fun:)

Since I was a lil boy, I loved to look at the stars and

think about things happening up there in the sky.

Now I want to upgrade this long time romance;)

So after a year of reading in lots of different forums

and many visits at telescope groups, I decided to

acquire a 10" Galaxy Dobson.

Tomorrow it will arrive with DHL.

I'm very excited to start observing and to try out

lots of different things like observing the planets and

deepsky, sketching and maybe even observe variable

stars:)

My observing site is certainly not the greatest, but the sky

is fairly dark. The transparency is also most of the time

okayish. My house is on top of a hill and I got free

views from east over south to west.

I read a lot at this forum and you guys are great:)

I'm looking forward to some great conversations

and lots of interesting topics !

CS to all of you :)

Best wishes Matze!

Thanks:)

@ tuckstar: Yes the skies there are beautiful indeed! If Bavaria just wouldn't be that far away:(

@Jim: Cool! Whereabouts in NRW have you been? Herford?

@Welrod50: I hope so, too:) But if the rule of thumb is right, there won't be any chance of observing in the next 10weeks;)

Dankeschön! I'll try my best:)

Hi Matze and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on ordering your new scope and here's wishing you clear skies for its arrival. Let us know how you get on with it (...10" is a very nice aperture to have!) and if you have time perhaps you might consider writing a review of this scope which others might find useful.

Clear skies

Hi James,

thanks! I saved a long time to buy that scope, I thought it might be better to buy one which

got good critics and is said to be of good craftsmanship.

:) I'm a bit old fashioned I guess.

Sure I will let you all know, how the scope works out for me! A review will follow as soon, as I get hands on it and it light on the mirror:)

CS and best wishes

Matze
