i have been a member for over a year but was wonering what you need to do to view the classified ads. i can not find it anywhere and my head hurts from looking

We only rarely do it, just when someone blatently 'post farms' eg we've had cases of people cutting and pasting 'nice image' into 30 different picture threads or 'Welcome to SGL' in 30 welcome threads one after the other... you get the picture!

The main thing to remember is that there's been a lot of historical issues with people abusing the classifieds section and the forum is about the community helping each other to advance in terms of their astro skills, knowledge and enjoyment. The classifieds is just an add-on which is a bit like a 'reward' for members who actively participate. There are other purely buying and selling based websites of which we are not one and these also allow traders which we do not.

Basically, join in the spirit of the forum, learn from and help/be nice to other members and enjoy yourself. That way you don't even have to think about post counts, and will naturally accrue the access before you even know it.
