M82 in just 15minutes!

Amazing how much you can get from just a short amount of time? This cropped image of M82 was taken with a Vixen VC200L and ST8300. Comprising just 2 x 3min lum, and 3 mins each of R, G and B.

Total 15 minutes.

They were taken as just a quick capture (an after-thought really) as we packed up from a recent imaging session of M81. It's not a fabulous image, but it just shows how much detail cooled CCD's can pick up these days.

I tried the same on my ST8300 with M20 - Triffid Nebula (3x3min L, and 1x2min RGB) however because of the light pollution my image is not as good.

Nice detail for the time spent. Very tricky to get this galaxy processed when trying to pull out the jets.

It makes you think what would be possible if you were to get a couple of hours on this, good result for so little subs.
