Hello all. Just got back into Astronomy again. Having just purchased what I would consider a half decent scope, I am thoroughly enjoying the evening sky especially with Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn hanging around my house at the moment.

Any advice on literature or upgrades for my scope would be welcome. I have the following guides/books:

Philips Planisphere

The Monthly Sky Guide 8th Edition

Sky & Telescope's Pocket Sky Atlas

I have found that the Monthly Sky Guide is really good but a little too basic. It really is meant for the absolute beginner. I would like something a little more comprehensive. Like I said, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! I am new too! I have just ordered 'Turn Left at Orion' as it seems to be VERY highly recommended. Only difficulty was deciding on digital or paper version - went for the spiral bound one in the end. I just got my telescope today, so also looking for good books, resources, etc. :-)

I would highly recommend:

Philips Planisphere

HERE

Sky & Telescope's Pocket Sky Atlas (Spiral Bound)

HERE

Use the two together and you can find objects in the sky without any problems. Very useful especially when using an EQ mount to get your references from.
