BBC Stargazing live strikes again!

Hoping to lurk the forums and pick up a better understanding of astronomy and get out for some of the events that the local stargazers have set up.

By good fortune I'm heading up the road this weekend to see my folks. I have a feeling my car will be heading back with my old man's tripod and binos.

Not to be too cynical, but I've burned through hobbies in the past (and wasted too much money) so I'm gonna take it slow and steady.

I'm kinda thinking binos to get my bearings and learn, camera for long aperture night photography and the local group to learn more, try to mind-meld other people's experience and get a better idea of astronomy.

Hi and welcome to SGL - I have found the forum very welcoming and helpful - enjoy:)

I've been really amazed with the level of patience on the forum with the flood of new people like myself. Other forums (for other hobbies) I'm on would be significantly less welcoming.
