Hi all,

a quick hello from me.

I've been interested in astronomy for a while (although remain pretty clueless). Into my 5th decade now and still not had a look through a "proper" telescope.

I pointed a 1970's spotting scope at Jupiter last week and was blown away by seeing what looked like 2 bands across the disc as well as 4 moons in attendance. Used it again the other night during the full moon:

Not exactly what I would call astro-photgraphy but made me pleased none the less. Literally held the camera up behind the eyepiece.

I've been looking for a low budget way into observing and bought an 8" dob on ebay the other week only for the seller to welch on the deal. Trying again tomorrow, having just snapped up a scope that seems too good to be true - let's hope not. Going to pick it up in the morning.

I'll keep you all informed!
