This must be good, however I live in Maldon where the scheme has been going since 2006 and TBH it hasn't made a great difference to me. The ring road lights are still on all night and they are the major cause of the orange glow. The brown colour on images I have taken (without LP filter) has been the same before and after midnight.

There is one street light that does shine into my garden and that going out does make a difference for observing.

I remember reading about this in our local papers here in Chelmsford. I recal that the lights out date was last April. and so i waited but nothing happened. Fingers crossed for this time round

Good news indeed, IF it happens. I have four street lights that affect my observing so If they switch them of, well we will see, "SEE" get it LOL.

Nice to see a compromise, admitting some areas need lighting and others dont.

I think it will happen more over the country as councils see real savings, and the "Green" card is always a good one to pull out also.
