  1. The benefit is more in that it allows you to connect directly to a T2 compatible diagonal or Prism. This saves some optical length and helps avoid needing higher powered GPCs. You do obviously need the T2 diagonal if you don't have one.
  2. From my own experiences, I think you would be hard pushed to beat the TS binoviewers although there do seem to be a number which offer the same features. I have some Antares branded ones which seem identical. They are excellent value, you are not paying for eyepieces you don't need, and they have self centering eyepiece holders and dioptre adjustment.
  3. It doesn't look like fungus to me Derek, from the picture it looks more like some sort of stress cracking. Had you checked before or do you just not know if it has always been there? Views ok still?
  4. Here is my little TAL Alkor 65mm on the Vixen GP, giving me lovely views of the lunar X tonight.
  5. Haven't posted on this recently, thanks tooth_dr for giving the thread a boost! Grab and go setupnwith White light and Ha views side by side, very nice too through the binoviewers.
  6. Having seen and used a T-Rex last night with the TEC140, I know what the fuss is about now. Lovely, solid and with slo mo controls is could actually get on with!
  7. Tee hee! The buyer of my Vixen f9 said it took him half an hour to get into it
  8. I can say from personal experience that Moose will show you cracking white light solar views with a Herschel Wedge
  9. The T6s are very nice, perhaps a little less 'in' at the moment, but they are lovely compact eyepieces, I often forget they are 82 degree! I fancy a 13mm at some point.
  10. Not sure, I thought I read that the optical figure was more accurate?
  11. John, I think that's why the DC is such a great proposition. I do have envious thoughts about the probable higher quality of the DL, and whether I'm losing out in resolution to larger aperture, but as a combination of quality and useability the DC is hard to beat. That's why it is the scope I have used most and will be the one I hold on to as long as I can. @Gavster, you basically have two lovely scopes which give you slightly different things, the 140 will ultimately give higher resolution views under ideal conditions but you will more easily be able to get the GTX to dark sites under fab skies. A very nice combo to have
  12. Amazing Matthew, looks incredible. I hope it tastes as good Now, off you go and enjoy your day, I'm sure the CFO would not be amused at you being on SGL today More seriously, have a fabulous day and enjoy every minute. It will fly by! Congratulations!
  13. That would make a lot of sense Mike. The seeing was pretty steady but the colour in GRS definitely muted. Compared with other views this year it was very good but not up there with the best.
  14. Great report Gavin I bet the views are amazing! In good conditions I think any of the top end fracs give the whole 'balls on velvet' experience (why does that sound so wrong? ), the Tak certainly does, but having that extra aperture along with the purity of a beautifully figured Triplet must just add that extra something! Strangely I found GRS more muted last night so I do wonder if it was more the conditions than anything else? There was some high haze around at times which I thought had cleared but maybe not? Lovely scope, I look forward to hearing more about it, and seeing it soon I hope
  15. I report it whenever I see it, seems to get taken down. Easy to spot as they request payment outside PayPal and put a contact email and price on one of the images.
  16. Not if it appears on eBay, it's a scam!
  17. They sound a little scratchy to me but I guess I'm missing something?
  18. Thank you Andrew! You've certainly beaten all the competition today, so can count yourself as a worthy winner!
  19. John, you are of course correct. I will do as I said I would a while back and leave this one now I hope the thread continues and some further useful info is discussed.
  20. Exactly!!! Sara, you bought the ED120 for Deep sky AP I believe. I doubt anyone would recommend it as being ideal for that, that's just the point!
  21. We will have to agree to disagree about this one, with no hard feelings of course There is just so much history that personally I find it impossible to separate the review from past conversations and requests. I think the comments about forum hype are the hardest to swallow. The scope was recommended for a purpose, no one hyped it for DSO use, in fact no one hyped it at all.
