  1. Looks fab Mike, you naughty boy Very tempting to try in future! Hadn't really looked at these before, kind of similar to the APM AZMaxLoad but better thought out and more complete I would say.
  2. That looks wonderful, and will be a great catalyst for your STEM work; an interesting talking point as well as a practical instrument to use. Keep us updated!
  3. Derek, I feel your pain, but that is a mere flesh wound compared with losing this lot. Gone.....all gone The only green and black I enjoy these days involves chocolate Actually that's a lie, I have my 24mm Panoptic and the Nag zoom so it's not all bad
  4. I'm looking for ways of fitting my Vixen GP mount to a photo tripod with a 3/8" thread. Is there an adaptor available anywhere which would allow me to do this? Just looking for ways to be a bit more portable with this mount. Thanks!
  5. How quickly things develop.... in an effort to fill the space, I've added the 2" 45 degree erecting prism and a 12.5mm illuminated reticle eyepiece that has no other home...
  6. Haven't posted a 'new' case for a while. I've gathered a few 2" eyepieces recently and have kicked out a load of junk from an old eyepiece case to give them a proper home. Worrying space left for more....... Televue Everbrite diagonal found its way in too as I didn't have a full 2" diagonal.
  7. My latest masterpiece! Taken tonight using an iPhone 6 Plus, mounted on a Manfrotto mini tripod using bits from a smartphone scope mount, works very well. Using LongExpo Pro which seemed to work better than ProCam 4 in terms of using a 2 second exposure combined with a sensitive/low light mode seemed to help. Processed with PS Express. Get your entries in for the next exciting StuPOD award
  8. Like Shane I've not tried this at very low power. Pretty sure it splits in the Tak with a 24mm Panoptic i.e. x30 but not sure below that.
  9. I regularly process on my phone Dave, it a piece of cake, even with my sausage fingers! Having an iPhone 6 Plus helps! John, thank you for your entry. We have had a little lean spell recently, but I have no question in announcing you as the winner of StuPOD for the day! Congratulations, excellent shots, and exactly what StuPOD should be about EDIT I've not tried the video technique myself, will have to give that a try!
  10. No I get that, you need the finder for solar but not for anything else
  11. I'm sure you won't need one with the TV60 Derek, I guess you get well over 4 degrees in that?
  12. It's actually a great combination whichever size you have. I had a fabulous time in Devon with this pair, widefield and high power/aperture side by side makes for really nice observing. The widefield for star hopping and the wider perspective and the aperture for detailed looks and the depth you can't get with a smaller frac.
  13. Looks fabulous Derek, should cover many bases. Get booking!! Looks like a mini version of this one
  14. Posted elsewhere, but here is my latest, potentially winning entry iPhone 6 Plus with Tak FC-100, Nikon 16mm Ortho and x2.5 PM, Zeiss prism. ProCam 4 for capture and PS Express for processing.
  15. A very nice image Helen but potentially disqualified because you were using a Mesu
  16. Feathertouches are wonderful things! Once you've used them it's hard to go back. Need one on the Tak now
  17. Very pleased Jules. I'm sure you will enjoy the extra resolution of the 120 over the 100. Well worth upgrading the focuser, perhaps to one of the TS ones depending upon budget.
  18. My apologies Jules, couldn't resist. It is Christmas after all
  19. Looks great Jules, but much taller than I remember. However are you going to reach the eyepiece from down there?
  20. Awesome scope Gavster! It does actually look quite compact, despite the aperture. Sky looking good here tonight, hope you get a chance with it soon (or have already?)
  21. Hurray! Nice one Jules Whatever you do, don't make any judgements on what you see at the moment, the seeing seems to be atrocious, certainly where I am. My Tak is performing like something from Argos tonight I jest of course to a degree, but high power views are not good
  22. I actually took some time to process Tony's image and feel it has drawn out some of the more delicate nebulosity whilst avoiding over exposing the core....... ....for anyone interested this is called 'Stu's actions' and is a useful technique.
  23. Jules, flattery will not endear you to the judge
