  1. Hi mate download the free app for synscan it will give you the info to put in the handset https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RapidoDroid.synscaninit2
  2. Mine is nearly as bad house to the South has trees at 30 feet tall , Polaris is behind roof of our house I get Venus for 20 mins before that goes over the roof out of sight , Orion plays hide and seek between all the trees
  3. Hi Paul sorry to hear your weekend went bad , I could not wait till tonight to get out with my telescope 😡 clouds and more clouds
  4. Hi all ok got the answer the EQ6 uses the same bolt thread as the HEQ5 so they say they will fit , so will upgrade to these
  5. Steve let me know how you get on please if it works for you and you get really good alignment on first star may be you can share what you did
  6. Hi if you go to the thread on fine tuning of synscan there is an option in the handset to turn off and this helps set up , but when you finish for the night make sure you park the scope so you start each time in the home position Mine is off on first star but it may be my setting up as i can't see Polaris at all
  7. Yes it is you can also calibrate the level so you know it's spot on , when you go into polar scope just click on daytime polar alignment and away you go I used a spare dove tail to mount my phone on then put this in the EQ mount to polar align
  8. Hi I have the same problem I can't see Polaris it's behind the roof of next doors house I use this app and can even do polar alignment in the day time it seems to work ok for the tiny cost of £3.09 The app is polaraliner pro it does it all compass , tripod level , mount polar alignment https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_kechko.Polaralignment&hl=en_US
  9. Hi well that looks nice , it reminds me of what wookie1965 had done to his mount , I do lift the mount to take pressure off the bolt as I adjust the angle , so touch wood it may not bend, but I am looking at different upgrade bolts just waiting for an answer as will they fit HEQ5
  10. Hi I don't think it will work as the bolt with ratchet on will hit balance weight , so either I cut it down or try and find different upgrade bolts
  11. Them bolts you have look spot on , if it comes to you were you got them can you give me a shout p!ease Thank you Carole
  12. Hi Paul I may try that I have nothing to loose
  13. Hi Carole thank you been a great help , 356astronomy do upgrade bolts which look like the original bolts (no ratchet) but are tougher steel so won't bend so I may get them £6.60 for the long bolt
  14. I tried to cut first bolt down in length I put the red button in line with the drop down handle of the original bolt to get the length so it would miss the polar scope but that made it to short to work the latitude , so when the guy made a new bolt for me I took off a fair few mm but this still didn't help If it's not to much of a pain could you measure the thread length of your bolt please I can cut this one down to your size and try it
  15. Hi Joe I read that they bend so wanted to upgrade I do remove to cap but it hits the polar scope lens at about 50 degs and this bolt has been made shorter by the guy for me the threaded part is 70mm long
  16. Well I am stumped I ordered the HEQ5 latitude upgrade bolts the one that has a ratchet on the long bolt , when fitting the bolt it gets jammed on the polar scope then the red button broke off , so I got another this one was shorter and same thing I get to 50 Degs and it gets jammed on polar scope again , I don't want to brake my polar scope all I can think is that my 9 year old HEQ5 is different to the new HEQ5 ? So back to the original bolts and hope they dont bend
  17. Hi and welcome from Luton
  18. Hi you can also defocus the star so it's easier to get it centred Mine is a little off as well so would be nice to find the answer I have only used go-to twice so I have a fair way to go Do you have the synscan app gives you all the data you need to put in the handset
  19. Hi and welcome to the hobby measured in light years Nice binoculars if you get the book turn left at Orion it will show what you can see with binoculars and what needs a telescope your be amazed at what you can see
  20. Hi I went from a 114 to a 150/750 the images were much clearer and sharper , but this was just a stepping stone to use till I got my 200 and OMG you can see so much more if you can afford the 200 go for it
