12mm should be sufficient tbh it seems strong enough on the climbing wall i go to so should be ok on your scope.if you need extra stiffness just reinforce it in the necessary areas rather than bulk up the whole thing

i have ordered a sheet of 18mm far eastern ply seems to have a nice finish,i cant see two 18"circles weighing to much :)

as said, 18mm is enough for a climbing wall, 12 flexes a bit under bodyweight but it should be fine for a dob :)

If you post that on ABS, I'm sure somebody would sell some sleep :D :D

My 102ED should be here on Monday

i was bidding on a 102 starwave on Ebay but i read some bad things about them about blue halos

On the contrary - they outperform the Skywatcher versions as apos. I talked to several people who had the 80ED and 102ED

Its a great life sometimes, innit? :). Got pizza and wine and 100mm f13 scope cooling down outside :)
