Interesting you've been told not; wonder why? Cloudynights article suggests external erf - usual issue with managing heat in the tube. What does Daystar recommend, or your normal supplier . I've just put a quark on my wishlist to use either with my william optics 102 gt or as a "cheapish" doublestack on my lunt ls60.

'AllSkEye' all-sky imaging Software (Windows)
Altocumulus replied to AngryDonkey's topic in Discussions - Software
Mike will likely answer, but I would guess not. My experience with the Wyze are they seem to be very proprietary, though to be honest I haven't yet gotten into the depths of what's possible with them. I initially got one for auroras, but I still use the AllSkEye software with a ZWO camera. -
Cracking detail on those last two images. Hopefully by this weekend we'll have some sun of our own up here!

150 degree lens on ZWO 178MC, DIY cam running AllSkEye software ( thanks Mike ). North is 1/3 in from the right - just on the edge of the trees. Sunrise shows at end of sequence 🙂 April282022.mp4

How important is the quality % in Autostakkert! ?
Altocumulus replied to StuartT's topic in Imaging - Lunar
I suppose that even when all the frames look good, overall there may be some minor differences the algorithm can identify. Don't forget it's all on the premise of 'lucky imaging'. As for the the quality graph, eveything's probably relative. Have you looked at the individual frames, you might find one that's even better than your stacked final -

Thanks Rustang and, despite Schafernaker on BBC Weather saying so, there wasn't one to be seen last night. -

Aye. I'm still, though, scratching around with settings to get a better view. Increasingly it looks like a ZWO camera is more awkward to use than a dslr! I had blue set at 90, red at 65, gain at 200. It looks like the highlights in this instance are somewhat blown with little to see in green or the classic diffuse pink glow. If night repeats, I'm trying a gain of 0 which might improve the dynamic range - problem is, too, no night is the same - especially currently with a strong moon. Another option I'm toying with is using an unused guide scope which will give a much smaller fov than the standard ZWO 150deg lens. -

NE Scotland. 20 miles NW of Aberdeen. I don't have the clearest view of the northern horizon, with those trees and a ridge to contend with! Looking at reports on the Glendale App, it could be viewed as far south as the Midlands (Tamworth/Stoke). Taken using AllSkeye software - video at 6 frames/second - edited for posting with Movie Maker. -

Does anyone have any experience with this adapter? It's described as Universal, and has a USP of having a filter holder inside. It fits correctly to my OOUK Mak, and also fits to my Canon adapter, allowing me to add a DSLR to my scope. All well and good. However the only way I can fit it all together is to omit the filter holder section! Swearing's no good, and I've done a fair bit of that whilst spending a couple of hours trying to configure correctly. The Canon adapter is the one that came with my Skymax. Head-scratchingly, Geoff!

Create a new housing for each 'scope size, that the 135 can fit in- on- to. I use the "keep cool" styrofoam (?) sheets that we got with some frozen food a long while ago. It's flexible whilst being strong enough when used with gorilla tape. Doesn't tend to look pretty, but it's functional. I have one as a baader film derf on my 180 mak.

It's an interesting final image, but somehow I feel it's lost the wow factor that each nightly moon exhibits.

That 120's performing well.

Och it had to happen one day (night). Took an opportunity yesterday evening to start setting up for the Solar season, beginning with a Polar alignment which, according to SC went from Fair>Good>Poor>Fair>Fair - the bolts on the NEQ6-R are not the easiest to manoeuvrer for fine adjustment! It was, also, blowing a 20knot wind across the 'scopes. I took an opportunity before coming in (I was cooking the evening meal at the same time) to take two sets of SER files of the Moon. William Optics 102GT & FF/0.8 Reducer & ZWO 120MC - No filters or flats. 40% of 500 frames at around 20fps. Plus Skymax 180 Pro & ZWO 462MC - No filters or flats. 15% of 1000 frames, again at around 20fps. (Image not flipped) Both limited process with AS3 and Affinity Photo.

Aurora last night
Altocumulus replied to Altocumulus's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
It's said to be a rare event to see the lights in the UK with naked eye, especially for us oldies - last time we saw them with the eye was in 2000. Besides this slice from the night's images starts after midnight - slumberland for me Glendale app suggests camera sightings only... -
Still struggling with colour and 'brightness' on the video. Using the excellent Allskeye software to capture png files at 30 sec intervals with 20 second pause. Could do with raising the box higher to see over the ridge! Or ask the farmer to nicely remove it!!!! Night Aurora 03 to 04 Feb 22.mp4

Have a browse around and see what other users of that 'scope are using. If not the exact scope then at least something of the same size/F.
