Sadly that day was the last opportunity I had to use the Quark. Each day since has been either cloudy or full of rain! The clouds in the box from FLO were particularly strong this time. I hoped yesterday and today (Sat/Sun) would offer opportunity, but there's too much upper cloud.

Roughly processed; AS3 & Imppg. More practice needed! I've not had this much detail on my Lunt LS60tha! Tuned on setting I received the unit. No flats applied William Optics 102GT + diagonal + uv/ir cut + tilt adapter + ZWO 174mm (cool) Tuning at around 8-9 minutes from switch on. Sequence of four images as the tuner warmed. Starts at T+00, then T+04, T+06 then T+08

Thanks. Thought I was being good buying from a Britsh firm.. .......mind I have since read the altair versions are re-badged.

Hi Steve, Is that the zwo cam? I have the altair hypercam version and it's very slow. Hard to get above 17fps even with reduced roi.

Great. Hope the Sun's still there for when our cloud disappears, that lower spot looks interesting.

The Moon from early morning hours of 20.7 - with 90mm refractor
Altocumulus replied to ONIKKINEN's topic in Imaging - Lunar
Interesting piece of software. Thanks Steve. -
Thanks Hugh, much appreciated. Apart from the DS, a similar setup to mine! I, obviously, need to practice more! Still waiting for the sun to arrive today! Rather opaque altostratus and altocumulus up above. I've enquired about a DS filter - 60-90 days, whilst Quark chromo is 2-3 weeks! Decisions upon decisons!

May one ask what you used for these fine gems - certainly beats mine hands down and over!

300k miles! In time-honoured measurement, I make that nearly 1600 M4 motorways 🤣

Yep, they be newton's rings. Can you slightly tilt the cam in its holder? I'd be inclined to use the normal apperture for a while, see how that goes.

Astonishingly good!

You're making me consider the Quark route, instead of adding a DS to my Lunt LS60! Advantage with the Quark ( Combo ) would be I have a few 'scopes it could be used on, especially a 102 refractor and a couple of Maks ( though DERFs can be a bit pricey on the Maks ). However I've yet to see a DIY option for remote operation of the Quark, whilst a DS unit can be catered for....

Is that the Sun? Forgotten what it looks like! Even on the Western Isles last couple of weeks it was only a fleeting glance we had. Not much better since we got home. Good capture, though.....
