  1. Welcome to the forum, ask away if you've got any questions and enjoy the hobby.
  2. Just made up some anti lift brackets so hopefully thieves won't lift it up this time. Also good for high winds. They move out to operate the dome so they clear the wall partition's. I will be cutting off the excess bolt length.
  3. I saved up all my summer money and tips £600 in summer jobs in the 70's to buy a 10inch Newtonian and motor driven mount, no goto then. £35 a week. Took about 18 weeks of saving. Costs were astronomical compared to today.
  4. Welcome to astronomy, I've realized domes are Like black holes too. Money is thrown in and nothing comes out, lol. Well, enjoyment comes out and those WOW moments make it all worth it.
  5. Hiya Rusted, yeah the condensation was quite a bit, I had a dehumidifier in there and it made a little bit of difference but not completely eradicating the condensation. I'm hoping the new method plus dehumidifier will make a difference, we shall see. BTW, been in the obsy today and completely dry so everything must of sealed ok, so that's a relief, lol.
  6. Hi Olly, two things, I wanted more hight because the garden is below road level and two to bring ventilation under the dome. These dome sweat, or at least mine did in it's previous location so I'm hoping this will will help with that. I'm planning on venting underneath with a couple of grills (not the bar-b-que type, lol). I'm also going to put a higher floor inside too of the same hight. So in theory the dome/telescope/me will be 45cm higher.
  7. Dedicated Solar Telescope! It's our biggest "little" announcement of the year! The new LUNT 40mm is the smallest and most portable of our dedicated solar telescope line. This true grab and go scope. Lunt 40mm Dedicated Hydrogen Alpha Telescope NEW Lunt 40mm Dedicated Solar Hydrogen-alpha Solar Telescope Specifications: (single stacked) Shipping in 8-12 weeks ARO Starting at Only $599.00! I started solar observations with the original 35mm. It was a great little scope and wondered why they stopped production of it.
  8. Yeah Steve, still lot's to do inside. Hopefully commissioning August in time for Mars, lol
  9. Hi rusted, I'm decking the edge's so should be fine but I want the cat's to be able to go under and evict anything, lol.
  10. I've done the same as I've done my RoR which was ten years old and no rot so figured using the same method was good. There is going to be a damp proof membrane going on the outside timber and the inside before the inner timber floor and flooring are put down. Thanks for your input thoughts, always good to have other opinions for others reading the posts. Also got two cat's who already go under the timber, lol.
  11. Higher floor going inside and decking on the exposed outside.
  12. I've a Lunt 60mm DS, love it and it's my most used scope, lol. Used solely for imaging. I had to change the O'rings and blue filter beginning of the year, but brilliant now. Recent image's with my DS.
  13. Welcome back, hope you get great views of the comet, not clear here until Friday
  14. All sorted, dome went on a treat with no issues with rotation.
  15. We should all be in our own bubble when it's on, lol.
  16. Funny rusted, lol. Do we have to use facemasks? All happening at 12noon today.
  17. Similar to what I got yesterday with my Lunt 60mm DS and zwo ASI 178mm.
  18. Dome put together today ready for social distancing lifting with friends tomorrow.
  19. Thanks, I only just managed to image this with the wind and fast moving cloud. Yeah, it was a lovely lift of prom and some amazing magnetic activity too.
