  1. Okey dokey Jeremy. Think it'll be easy to fit eight handles, two on each quarter. I really can't be bothered to automate it, lol.
  2. Have you put handle's on your dome or is it automated Jeremy?
  3. Thanks Rusted, I certainly could do with at least a two handle's of some kind each quarter of the dome to pull it around. I got my fingers trapped against a wheel inside the ring a few months back. It hurt and was bruised for a week. I was wondering about someone of cupboard handle. I do have a motor off an old disability scooter and a variable speed controller that works with it and can reverse the motor as well. I'm not sure how to fit it, probably need to make an inner ring and have some kind of tooth ring. I would then just be able to move it as needed electronically.
  4. Unfortunately I have to move the dome myself. I've a pulley system on the shutter so that's easy. It is a bit of a pain moving the dome every half hour, lol.
  5. Thanks peps, it's all working a treat. All I need now is clear skies, lol. I thought the music was nice, lol. It's what I listen to while I'm imaging. I think it's called "Astromix." It's spaced out, lol.
  6. Hi all, just triple mounted my Calcium II K, white light and hydrogen alpha scopes. Thankfully all camera's fall in the field of view on the monitor so only a little adjustment needed to frame whichever wavelength I'm imagining. received_1884199208405099.mp4
  7. I love the summer months for solar imaging. A calcium II K filter and a 70mm to 100mm refractor you can image lovely features using your own scope. Cost is comparable to a decent refractor but what's not to like. Plug and play unlike HA where you have to tune and clock the solar scope to get even illumination. Screenshots for info in Calcium II K yesterday 22nd May.
  8. It's really quite exciting active region with lot's of flare's everyday so far. BTW, new active region with smaller spot in the northern quadrant
  9. Hi, I did notice one spot and two pores, precursor to full blown spots. Well done on the WL captures they are good. Nothing wrong with WL. Most of us start our slippery slope into solar observation and imaging with WL.
  10. Hi all, just posting two screenshots of the solar activity today. Some lovely prom's too. Screenshots in HA and CaK.
  11. Managed to capture it this morning in Calcium II K and it was fizzing. Screenshots for reference.
  12. Brilliant, it's looking like a big active region with a large spot and associated smaller spots, it's a good one. I've added some screenshots in Calcium II K from my captures this morning.
  13. Hi Andy, yes, they are sent to the British Astronomical Association solar section and correlated by them. Many thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
  14. Yes solar is always changing, that's what I like about our nearest star. Thanks, appreciate your comment.
  15. Hi all, a very short session between very fast morning clouds. The dome was being buffeted by gusts of wind and the seeing wasn't that great. I only managed to capture one decent image in Calcium II K, it was impossible to use the HA. I did spot another small spot development in the plage East of AR2822 nearer the North Eastern Limb and what seems like a new plage area on the South Eastern limb coming onto the disk. 100mm AR stopped down to 80mm, zwo asi 178mm Camera.
  16. Hi all, Posting some images from the 12th. I think I caught a C1.5 flare in calcium II K. Pre flare, flare and post flare. Of course I might be wrong but there is definitely a brightening within AR 2822 on the images taken at 09:37UT and 09:47UT the same time as the noted flare beginning at 09:15UT and ending 09:47UT. Time frame in sequence.
  17. I was Jeremy, but didn't do the Tracey Island, I made middle earth, lol.
  18. "It's going to be sunny, it's going to be sunny, it's going to be sunny" 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
  19. Thanks, yes, definitely I'll use some sticky tape, thanks for the tip.
  20. Hi all, with the upcoming partial solar eclipse next month 10th June. I decided to make some filters for the binoculars and eye glasses 👓 for my family and partner to view the eclipse. I used Explore Scientific solar film. All that was needed was a craft knife and I used double sided sticky tape. I did make two extra circles out of used card so I could make two filters for the binoculars. Solar film was £20. It gives a nice yellow image.
  21. Hi all, new plage area on the Eastern limb just coming into disk and some lovely AR's and proms. Screenshots in Calcium II K and HA for info.
  22. Sorry, sunny here most of the day with the occasional shower. Hope you all have some sun soon.
  23. Some lovely activity today still especially the proms. Screenshots in Calcium II K wavelength, but still see those lovely proms.
  24. Nice captures. New AR has been designated AR 2823. Thanks for sharing.
  25. Great observation, I was surprised to see a new spot this morning of the 10th. Well captured. Thanks for sharing.
