  1. I got one this week, great piece of kit, good focuser and very good quality overall. There are a lot of screws on this finder, some are a bit in the way wen rotating the focuser. One thing i miss is that they should have put a photo-threaded hole on the bottom of the finderdovetail for easy mounting on a tripod for travel use, as the advertise it as finder/small travelscope. As it is now you have to MacGiver a solution yourself I also tried some different eyepieces and configurations with the stuff i have, the only thing that seems to work is using the standard 10 and 25mm Plossl witch are frequently supplied with telescopes (only tried the 25) with the provided spacer ring. I also attached a Baader Hyperion 5 and 13 mm but the field stop seems to be inadequate, it looks a bit weird to i might ad. Like they said, using a diagonal doesn't work, no focus. Great combo with the ED80, i do wonder how well it will balance... I didn't use it outside yet, as many of you now the box was off course supplied with bad weather, but i'm confident it won't disappoint . Clear skies !
  2. I have been following Trevor since l the end of last year i think, and his channel really boomed this year. Love his video's, and he knows very well that he has to thank his followers for all the gear they send him, so he's quite humble about that. I'm glad that i'll get to see our mount more frequently on YouTube, as i mentioned on his channel, there are not a lot of video's about it yet.
  3. Some great instruments here ! The Sumerian really impressed me, hadn't seen that one. I sold my dob some months ago in favor of an 11" SCT, i kinda miss the simplicity of it, oh well someday... ?
  4. That's a lot of power you got there ! If you don't mind me asking, how do yo manage to do your polar alignment with that board ?
  5. Is this Corel Suite 10 the precursor of Atershot, i see no mention on it on the Corel Site. Most people doing astrophotography i see are using photoshop, so i wonder if Corel is as good, in other words, could my images be better processing them with photoshop ? I bought Corel because i don't like the subscribing policy of photshop, i like to pay once and own the program. €290/year for photoshop is a bit steep i think.
  6. My first attempt at a DSO with my Skywatcher Evostar 80ED + 0.85 Reducer on the Skywatcher EQR-Pro, guiding with PHD2 and the Rising Tech IMX178 camera on a basic Skywatcher finder using a adapter ring from FLO. 5 x 5min subs, 7 Darks and 21 Bias frames taken with the Canon 750Da with Baader Moon and Skyglow filter. Curves in Corel Aftershot Pro3 (Anyone else using Corel ?)
  7. I use this, haven’t gotten any issues with it.
  8. I have a similar question, i've bought the EQ6R-Pro along with two other people in my astronomy club, and we have noticed that my polar scope reticle is not in the same position. On the foto's you see the position of my reticle RA is in the 0 psition, and DEC at 90 to unblock the polarscope off course. I'm not sure if this matters, i guess if you put polaris on the suggested spot, you're fine ? Thanks
  9. Waiting in the garden for first light on the new mount, hope those clouds will leave soon...
  10. I agree in trusting the external level more. But really, it isn't all that important, if your polar alignment is good, then it shouldn't matter if the mount it's not perfectly level.
  11. Hi fellow EQ6R-PRO-owners, Took delivery yesterday, i only had an hour or so until i had to leave for a marriage party, so i wasted no time and dived right into the boxes ? . What a beast ! ? And doesn't the Nexstar 11 GPS OTA look fine on it ? I've ordered a 3th weight with it, and its just about balanced like this on the foto, so without the extension bar, that Meade eyepiece is one heavy sucker dough, weighing 1,25kg. Now learning how to PA can start and adjusting coming from a AZ mount.
  12. Hi everybody, i'm expecting a EQ6R-Pro myself, can't wait to get in to longer exposure AP and learning more on Polar Alignment, guiding and what not. I'ts going to be a steep learning curve but motivation is a good companion, and off course i'm hoping to gather some tips and advice here from you. I've visited ATT in Essen (NEAF counterpart Germany) on may 5th together with some co-members of our local astronomy club, and there where 3 of us who bought the mount, so we've got a good deal on it (-15%). Unfortunatly the stock was depleted, the vendor sold 10 mounts on one day (and we left 3 hours before closing), so i'm still waiting.
  13. Hi, i’ve also just loaded the AZ/EQ firmware, i had no problems during update, i’m sorry to hear about your troubles updating, have no clue about the how and why dough. have you followed the procedure exactly ?
  14. I guess you're right, it seem's less and less unlikely i'll be able to sort it out anyway.
  15. Hi all, since my last post i'm a bit wiser and had the chance to use the scope a couple of times. I found that my HC is version 4.12 and MC is 4.06, this means the MC is the latest published so i'm good there, but the HC is update-able to 4.21. I've got the serial to USB cable and followed the procedure as shown in the HCupdate program from Celestron, but it keeps telling me to put the HC in Transmit Data mode by pushing Undo + Info on start-up so i did, but it keeps prompting the same. The cable works, i've controlled the scope in Stellarium, i've tried an old laptop running an old Windows , i've installed the latest USB to serial firmware, i'm running out of idea's, anyone ? Anyways, since i have a later HC version, i don't have the GPS Align, instead i've got the "newer" SkyAlign, selecting 3 random bright stars, the procedure is very easy and doesn't take that long. When finished the GoTo is spot on every time, sometimes just needing to centre the object a little, also the motors are really quiet, silky smooth soft noise without gear cracks, you'd never believe this is a 13 year old scope. As a bonus this really is a good looking scope wearing that carbon fiber suit like a boss ?
  16. Guess there aren’t many Nexstar GPS users ? anyways, i bought the scope...
  17. Hi, this evening i’m going to check out a Celestron Nexstar 11 GPS, according to the current (=second) owner the scope’s production year is somewhere between 2005-2007 . Anyone who knows what to look out for ? Also is there still firmware support for the mount ? Thanks
  18. Hi, bought myself a Windows laptop, to have more application options for AP, etc... So coming back to this, i've downloaded the firmware loader and clicked the MC Version button and it tells me 3.6.A5 that seems more recent then the 3.1 Firmware i'm about to load Any thoughts ?
  19. Thanks for all the replies ! I do first use a 21mm Hyperion to center the first alignment star, then slide in the 12,5mm cross-haired to fine tune, the scope then slews automatically to the second alignment star and i repeat the proces, so this is you all pointed out. Maybe the balancing is a bit off, since the cross-haired EP weighs 100 grams or so, and a Hyperion 300-400 grams ? I also like to swap out the star-diagonal and EP and put in my camera, at that time i cant move the scope or alignment is gone.
  20. Hi, i thought about following up on this post, so i now have used the AZ GTI a number of times, and i must say, i find that the GoTo isn't all that great in my experience. Since last posts here i've used a cross-haired ocular (12,5mm) so alignment should be better, all tough, i must say, it doesn't make it easier, you really have to hunt the alignment stars with that kind of magnification. Alt-az corrections in doing so aren't helping because the mount can do some strange jumps when youre manualy fine aligning the alignment star, don't now if this is something backlash correction can correct ? After alignment, the GoTo can sometimes be way off target... Anyone who has similar experience ?
  21. Thanks, but i'm limited in exposure time to max 8 - 10 seconds due to the AZ mount. I know i did a poor job on the post image processing, still exploring the possibilities...
  22. First try at the Orion nebula. Skywatcher Skymax 127 on AZ GTI mount, Sony Alpha 6300 prime focus I'm a total newbie, so go easy on me :-)
  23. Hi, check out Wolfie6020 on YouTube, he's also on this forum, and he also got the AZ GTI and i think he primarily uses it for mounting his camera.
