  1. Hi, i assume by RSJ you mean the wall ? This wall is on the plot boundry, so i made it a closed wall.
  2. progress of today, we have put the walls in place and started with the roof beams. The black brick is Faomglass to eliminate a cold bridge (i know its a wood construction) but mainly i placed it to have a nice flat level surface to start on. This is the telescope part with the sliding roof, its 3,7 meters x 2,5 meters inside measurements This is the garden shed/warm control room, this part is 5,08 meters x 3,7 meters, the part were the 4 walls are placed together is the carport section, this is 6 meters x 3,7 meters. This outside part under the roof is where i'll hang the bikes Looking from the "control" room to the cold room, this wall has a door on the left big window where the desk will be, and under the desk a hatch to get to the crawl space because the floor in the cold room will be raised aprox 0,5 meter I will make a time lapse at the end.
  3. Hey Carole, when i started last year with the concrete work and preparing the walls i had a small gap in my agenda, so i only had a few days then. Next week is an Easter week-off in construction nationally, so i'm using this to work for myself. I did quite some preparing for this week to maximize efficiency so i hope to amaze you once again ? will post time-lapse..
  4. Hi all, it's been a while, but i'm preparing for phase 2 of the build next week !
  5. Nice work ! I imagine you leave everything on the mount when you put your gear back inside ? Happy with the 72ED ?
  6. Oh, so you’re the responsible, thanks for that ??
  7. I do use a PoleMaster, wonderful tool !
  8. Just to point out the incredible tracking accuracy of this mount, when i was imaging M45 this week, i forgot to activate tracking in PHD2, i realised this halfway in a 5min sub but i let it run just to see the result, here it is.
  9. Looks like you got a hot neighbour across the street ? All joking aside, nice adjustment job ?
  10. Hi guys, i wonder, did any of you set te slewing limits of the mount ? Will this prevent the mount, while tracking, to move past the meridian ? The manual states it wil stop the mount to "slew" past the slewing limits, but does this also apply for "tracking" past the limits ? On one or two occasions i was just in time at the mount to prevent the camera from hitting the tripod. These kind of settings are not my forte, i'm still struggling to wrap my head around celestial coördinates, would appreciate some guidance. Also in what format do you need to input the coördinates ? Thanks
  11. C11 & ED80 So far i've just used this for visual, the ED80 is a little off axis due to use of regular clamps, it's also at the limit of the suggested max load-capacity of the EQ6R-Pro
  12. Just field tested that, used the bubble level of the mount, and did the polar alignment with my newly accuired Polemaster, total error in PHD2 guiding was 0,14 then later on 0,20-0,30 ! Wasn't the clearest of nights so, not to bad at all.
  13. Hi, mine is wrong to, i use a smal Stanley Fatmaxx level to level the tripod, but there are mixed opinions of how important leveling your tripod is. the only downside i find is that you always need to remove the mount from the tripod to level it first.
  14. Walls are ready, here's a time-lapse (until the battery died) Building walls.mp4
  15. It is my day-job, contractor that is, very handy for DIY projects at home ?
  16. it won't be a problem, as you mentioned, the weight of all that concrete...
  17. The time-lapse is also updated Next i will build the wall sections in the workshop, when timing permits the work will continue on site , will post foto's of the wall-sections build, stay tuned... Obsy build 2.mp4
  18. Update, excavating the foundations is done, formwork is in place, concrete rubble is placed as foundation of the carport section and steel reinforcement also placed. today we poured the concrete ! This is the base of the concrete pier for the telescope mount 80x80x50cm
  19. Thanks ! I'm going for a flat roof, over the "OBSY" section there will be a sliding roof section of 2,5 by 2,5 meters. The Obsy-section is in essence the cold part, it will be closed with a wall, my desk will be against this wall en there wil be a large window in it so i can see the "action". The cold-room will be 3,6 by 2,5 meters. On the left side there will be a door, leading to the ramp to get to the raised floor of the observation dek. There will be a concrete pier base about 40by40 cm and a height-adjustable pier on top of the concrete pier. The obsy will be mostly for imaging.
  20. hi, today i started moving ground for my home observatory. The idea is to combine a carport, garden shed, obsy and bicycle storage, the structure will be 15 meter long and 4 meter wide. Here's a plan and time-lapse of today's progress. (hope this works .mov file) Home Observatory.mov
  21. Hi, Here in belgium we've had "Night of the Darkness", a national event to raise awareness about light pollution, for the occasion my astroclub was set up at a school and i brought my SCT along and added my 80ED to it to let the visitors see both the high power narrow field of the SCT as well as the rich field of the refractor, so the set up is about 20kg, 3 weights at the end of the extension bar, had no problems at all. In the foto to the right, you see my college's EQ6R, he fitted the Geoptik counterweight bar to his mount, works fine, but he can't slide it in anymore for transport.
