  2. 200p skyliner. Easy to use and set up.great veiws. Not heavy .no electronics to go wrong .maybe the only scope you'll ever need.
  3. Hi just finished making a new eyepiece holder as the sw one that comes with the 200p isn't great this holds 6 eyepieces .and now is in a better position for me.
  4. Bst are great value for money.and a very good match for the 200p. Im lucky I have a full set of bst.and 8-24 zoom. have no ambition to get anything better..Enjoy the fabulous views a dobsonion gives.
  5. Sorry cannot agree with the above comments about TS optics finderscopes.I have a 10x60 ts optics and it's a very well made unit.optics are great.
  6. Totally agree with the above replys.could be the only scope you'll ever need.fabulous scope.capable of outstanding views. A dob is for life not just for Xmas.
  7. Lots of suggestions here.good advice as usual from lots of knowledgeable people.aperture is king ...but remember you've got carry it and set it up.I've always been more than happy with my 200p skyliner. I can carry if need be.not heavy.and I'm 61 years young.and it gives great veiws. Whatever you choose think long and hard .A telescope is for life not just for Xmas.
  8. If your unsure look up collumation on you tube .there are some easy to follow set ups to watch.
  9. Sounds a bit odd to me.never had a problem with my 200p with collumation or setting it.
  10. I made it myself. It's still manually moved in az/alt . but so much better than std .it's a joy to use and very precise also very smooth. I think someone in the USA makes a similar setup but it costs around £300.I believe. It cost me around £50 for everything. If you look on youtube and type in zlomotion dobsonion. You'll see it .but mine is more stable than that setup. Regards Paul
  11. The motordrive was used on the focuser. But have since upgraded to a lecerta dual focuser. Which is a good upgrade. Regards
  12. Hi.have thought about sitting in on a waterbutt base.if you intend to leave your dob outside. Keeps base of damp grass. I've sent picture of mine.but I keep it in conservatory always.but I'd never leave outside. Hope this helps.
  13. I'd put the 200p newtonion on eq5 mount .because aperture is king.nuff said really
  14. That's a good choice. It will last a lifetime. When you need to upgrade the eyepieces there is plenty of choices. Just enjoy the fabulous views the dobsonion will give.
  15. Hi.Yes you have take the skywatcher one out and fit it .as I fitted the same to my 200p dob.it is very well made and improves the focus Alot. Well worth the money.
  16. If your not bothered about photography then a 200p is a great scope.simple .easy to set up.and gives excellent views.that's my opinion. I've never for 1 second had any regrets about buying mine.and have no inclination to change .well worth every penny.
  17. 8" dobsonion gets my vote everytime.excellent scope does nearly everything .here's mine
  18. Nice to see an imperial measurement for a change.very refreshing. I'm still old school.
  19. There is a different but it's justifying it.there are some very good mid price eyepieces. Which give to top ones a run for their money. If you can justify the price then fair enough. We all see different things in different ways. But diminishing returns come into play at some point.the secondhand market is always worth looking at. My advice would be to look through eyepieces before you buy.don't buy them just because there expensive.or your case will look good. Just remember you can't run a Ferrari on a mini income. My opinion for what it's worth.
  20. Hi I don't like bst eyepieces as you can see. The long bst starguider is my 8-24 zoom.
