  1. I made my dew shield out of a yoga matt.for my 200p.
  2. I think I'd give a kidney for the one on the lawn. wow fabulous
  3. 200p all the way it will last a lifetime does everything I need a dob to do. Before you buy why not go to a club near you and see what suits you. Don't be swayed by what I say or anyone else. After all its you who has to use it . Try them out ask questions .most of us are willing to help and answer questions. Please don't rush into buying something you may regret in time. Or just sits in the corner not getting used. Hope this helps. I'm not getting into what's the better scope .I'm very happy with my 200p skyliner. Always will be. Whatever you finish up buying please use it regularly enjoy it.
  4. Hi.It also depends on what you want to do with it astronamy wise. Size does matter but remember your the one lifting it. Age is another factor. I'm 62 my 200p is enough for me to get in the car carry to veiw as long as it isn't to far to walk. There is a huge choice out there. I must say I'm keeping the 200p have no regrets buying it.have no thoughts of getting a bigger dob . Very happy at what I can see with it.for the price you'll be hard pressed to get anything better a truly fabulous scope. Whatever you finish up buying good luck and if it gives you half as much pleasure as my 200p has youll be happy. Regards
  5. That's nice to hear.they look fantastic scopes. As I said makes my 200p look like a finderscope
  6. Wow they look amazing. Makes my 200p look like a finderscope. Are they all manual.???
  7. Very true just enjoy the scope .it will do show you so much. An excellent choice for anyone who is interested in astronamy. Enjoy.
  8. As said I wouldn't worry to much about it.just get out and enjoy the views.
  9. Hi and welcome. I've own a 200p skywatcher skyliner for a few years now. I can honestly say that I have been very pleased with it. And will not be selling it .it has shown me so much and is in my opinion one of the most satisfying scopes there is. I know mine is modified. But before I started to modify it the veiws are fabulous. The other thing is eyepieces although the std eyepieces work there not great.I then bought a set of BST eyepieces. Which improved veiwing . Whatever you choose a 200p is an excellent scope.and very portable. And will last you a lifetime.
  10. Hi.I cannot comment on your scope.but I can say that I own BST eyepieces and I'm very pleased with them. Good upgrade from the std eyepieces that come with every new scope. I have no intention of getting anything better. It's just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  11. My advice would be to go and look at various scopes.that's when you get to see size /weight .don't just buy a scope because it gets lots of recommendations . Maybe visit a club.or shop. After all your the one who has to carry it about.put it in your car. The other thing is where to keep it. Don't rush into buying something you may regret. Good luck.
  12. It's a difficult thing trying to steady and balance a dob of any size really. That's what made me modify my dob.it has made a huge difference. The stability and control is so much better.Even with high magnification eyepieces. Just remember a dob is for life Not just for Xmas.
  13. Myself I chose the skywatcher skyliner 8" dob .I did look at larger dobs but as I'm getting on in years didn't want a dob I couldn't manage to take out myself. I've always been very happy with my dob.although I have done a few mods to it. It's no good buying a large dob that you'll never use or cannot manage .There isn't much I'm missing out on in visual terms. Im glad I chose the 8".it's very manageable. I get fabulous veiws .and most of all I use it Alot. The best thing is now I'd never sell it.Don't be put off by the smaller dobs. You will get good views . Just remember Size does matter!! why buy something you can't manage. Just to sit in the corner .!!!
  14. Hi. My advice would be to go to local astro club.look through as many as possible.
  15. I use a ts optics 10 x60.Raci. Very nice and an impressive .
  16. If you want to raise it up more.this was taken before I removed auto- focuser. It's a water butt base.
  17. Hi.I had a auto focuser fitted to my 200p. But have now removed it found it to slow to focus. Also I've got a lecerta focuser now which is a step up from the skywatcher unit.
  18. Slow motion controls for a dobsonion. Built not bought.and works very well.
