  1. Firstly @Stu I agree T-Rex have hands, the picture bears this out, but in my defence my hands are not alike 😉 And back to Astronomy..... The hole I made was actually 70mm, I have measured it and taken some images. It works very well indeed and was a simple change to the riser column, But please note my column was cut down from a longer one, the remaining bit now resides with @AdeKing
  2. A hole saw, Starrett with cutting fluid applied as it cut, took a while. Hmmm, will measure and confirm. Did T-Rex have hands?
  3. Wow, lots of nice well figured glass today, enjoy all the new playthings folks. Of course we are now cursed for the rest of the month with cloud 😉
  4. Stu, I cut a 60mm hole in the side of my 7.5" SW Extension Tube, gives access to the screw, M10 in my case, I can remove the mount away from all the rest.
  5. It's great to observe through someone else's eyes once in a while, through great observing reports such as this one Stu. You were lucky to get the combination come together and have a great night. It was a lot more on/off here and the combination did not come together for me. Nice to see that my (😉) 4mm TOE is working so well for you.....for those not knowing it was the one in stock at FLO and I was wavering the buy it button, when Stu went for it. That kit you have now got is most desiarable indeed and will bring ongoing pleasure for some time. Be careful though, a larger eyepiece case or another one now beckons Interesting that you have now got the encoders up and running with a Nexus, they work well don't they. I presently have the Nexus DSC on my Dob, love the easy finding, this will move over to the Rowan mount when it arrives.
  6. Exciting indeed, I can see this addition being very popular. The Facebook footage posted by Rowan showed a very smooth and quiet operation.
  7. ?? Power Lead ?? @johninderby, something NEW happening at all 🙃
  8. Like Taks Jeremy, never sell one, never regret its passing..... like your thinking 😉
  9. Very nice solution Gina, that Roof sounds wonderful as well. Hope your OK, not crossed on SGL much of late.
  10. Welcome back @Paz, As you say SGL is of a high standard in friendlyness and politeness. Your comment on being checked on Vega made me chuckle, folks can be so rude in trying to be complimentary.
  11. I didn't manage to read your post without a silly School Boy snigger, sorry. Even more sorry for publicaly admitting to it.
  12. Thanks for sharing, made me grin and nod to it. Those reasons alone sound very fine indeed and similar to my own.
  13. I often think about going to these events, then think it’s warmer inside than camping in winter... Then I wrap up at home and go outside and observe for ages and freeze my bits off anyways, so my logic is clearly flawed. Oneday, perhaps soon an Astrocamp will be on my itinerary. To those of you that do go, enjoy, those dark Norfolk skies are stunningly good and the County is beautiful in itself, one of my favoured places.
  14. Nice one Rusted, very dedicated to stick with it. Typical in that we had some cloud free time, but I had no scope as travelling and then moving Daughter No. 1 to her new home, always does this to me that naughty sky.
  15. Now I see a personal use for a 3D printer after these last images, just wow.
  16. This memory is clearing, that’s not Derek or Dave ….. Something ‘New’ is coming ...... I am sure that’s it ..... but? What could it be?
  17. Thanks John, that is my thought as well on adequacy, on the recess, that makes no sense other than someone, somewhere made a unilateral call that the size chosen made sense to them. I often ponder why any recess at all, why not flat bases?
  18. Me too John, just makes it all very complicated. Is M12 really that more strength than M10 in Astronomy use?
  19. Well the Neuralyzer is wearing off and I now remember that something is being sent to me next week….. I just wish I could recall what it is?? Just in case I have this HEQ5 tripod prepared for it…. Did I say HEQ5 hmmm Hmmm odd, does that fit the AZ100??
  20. Postie Pete's colleague came a calling yesterday, while I was out having 'fun' at the Dentist. So only open and pictured today. My 80mm f6 Camper Van scope and perhaps more, depends how we get on. Of course it will need a Camper Van mount and tripod, but don't tell Mrs W. that just yet! Just look at all those baffles!
  21. Great news John, I know how you feel. My Club, CPAC has had several dark site observing sessions and one an at the Club Space Begginers Night. It was most uplifting and enjoyable.
