  1. Very nice and a difficult target from Cornwall.
  2. I use the same mount Alan and i've often wondered whether this was worthwhile. Given that i use short sub exposure times i never bothered to experiment. Would certainly be of interest to see if others had any positive experience. It's not something i see mentioned on the forum often.
  3. Update on this. I tried again with the Asi 1600 and the stars look pretty good apart from slight elongation in the corners probably due to spacing. I moved the position of the rotator too which could rule out that being the issue. More tests to follow.
  4. You're welcome. Some sources also quote HD 199579 as the offender.
  5. Thank you kindly Ahmed. Thanks Alan. You've gone from one extreme to another with the temperature over there. Thanks Adrian. I'll look forward to seeing your image. The 1600 and the 135 are a great combination. I just used the unity gain setting which automatically sets the offset. I think it's 50.
  6. When i sold my Epsilon i knew i could well end up regretting it, but i have to say i'm impressed with the quality of the Esprit 100, nice round stars and a distinct lack of diffraction spikes. Considering this is only 4 hours through a large amount of atmosphere given it's low elevation i think it has turned out okay. It took two nights to capture the data and i had an issue with my autofocus on the second night where i lost almost 2 hours in subs that were well off focus, no idea why it happened yet. I also had an issue where my guide star would just shoot off in Dec, again needs further investigation. There's always something. I have serious fetish for dark nebula and the dark dust in emission nebula, so in this image i tried to highlight just that. The dark dust here obscures the emission areas and perhaps even the star thought to be the source of ionisation for the Nebula J205551.3+435225. Link for anyone interested. http://www.caha.es/newsletter/news05b/Comeron/ngc7000.html 4 hrs in 300 second subs with an Asi 1600 and an astrodon 5nm ha filter. Unity gain -20C. Mount: AZEQ6 Stacked in APP 2*drizzle Processed in APP and PS Hope you like it, and please click on image for higher quality. Richard.
  7. Some great detail in that Steve, very nice.
  8. I really enjoyed that Gav. A huge amount of work gone into that fair play.
  9. Thanks Rodd Thanks. Yours has lovely detail though.
  10. Using the rotator on the focuser. I really hope that's not the cause as it's one of things that annoyed me with the Tak, if you used the rotator it would throw out the collimation. An Oag connects directly to the flattener so threaded m48 i think. Yes Alan it was at least 5 degrees C cooler on Saturday night.
  11. Thanks Alan. I thought the same, nothing has changed since the last subs except rotating the camera. This is the result of 3 hrs integration. Quite pleased.
  12. Thanks Adam and Steve. I was very happy with the detail it picked up for such a short integration time.
  13. Thanks Tim. There's a lovely cluster of galaxies bottom right too, must look into them.
  14. Very nicely done. A tough one from your location.
  15. Well this is just a quick first light with a newly acquired Esprit 100. Nice to have a little window of clear sky to finally test the new scope properly. Everything worked nicely and i was even able to transfer my auto focuser from the Tak to this without the need for any adaptors and it seemed to work well. I had it refocus every hour as i'm not sure how well the new scope does with changes in temperature over long periods, and for some reason i just can't get the temperature probe to work. Galaxies aren't really my thing as i'm aperature challanged but it was well positioned and at this time of year i'm seriously limited in target choice by the big lump of house blocking the view to the North West, North and North East. So this is 3 hrs in 150 second subs with the Asi 071 gain 50 -5C. Zwo IR filter Mounted on an Az Eq6. Captured with SGpro. Stacked and fully calibrated with APP. Processed in APP, PI and PS Hope you like it. Richard.
  16. Managed to get about 3 hours of subs on Saturday night. The stacked image looks good but that maybe because i imaged at both sides of the meridian. Single sub
  17. Oh the horror of seeing your lovely gear on the ground. Could've been worse i suppose, at least the camera is okay. Stunning image really sparkles. If i may make an observation, there seems to be holes in your stars possibly introduced in post processing.
  18. That's exactly how the last few months has been for me, throw fog in to the mix too. Instead of your 30C we have about 14C here.
  19. Food for thought Alan, and thank you for the kind words. Looks clear tonight for my first proper run with the new setup so i should have more to go on tomorrow.
  20. Thanks Alan. Would you consider it a fault with the scope or would you live with it?
  21. Ya i had another look and now it's clearly visible. i had convinced myself it was better. Question is, is it really a problem? I'll gather a decent amount of data and see how it looks, and maybe try with the 1600.
