  8. Managed to bag Venus just before I went behind houses, and Mercury too for the first time for ages. Pushed the mag a little, but could see the phase of Mercury very easily. Had a quick peek at Mars too! :)

  9. Hopefully looking good for a few hours cloud free tonight. A quick bite to eat and I'll be straight out! ?

  10. Yippee!, I know own the Quark, today is a day of Days....

  11. Woo hoo! Forecast is for clear skies tonight. Fingers crossed! I'm getting excited already! Hehe! ;)

  12. Photographed my first proper star the other night. I couldn't get my kit setup for nebulae in time and it was nearing 1 am. Capella from the constellation Auriga.

It was also my first time using dark frames and it really did a great job removing the hot and cold pixels from my overall image.

I also am aware i was getting some star travel. I am not using autoguiding but instead the HEQ5's auto slewing.

Still from the amount of time I had to do this, I'm pretty proud of it at least. Learnt a lot and getting much more comfortable with my scope!

Clear skies appear to be so rare since I've gotten back into astronomy. Must be a curse of 2017 me thinks!

    Pesky, out.

  13. "On a clear night one can see forever!"

  14. Hope every one has a great chrismas and new year

  15. I just read an article in Universe Today on the launch of a satellite carrying USAF such & so. Lot's of photos by Ken Kramer(sic). And saying: "Delta IV rocket streaks to orbit after blastoff at 6:53 p.m EDT on Dec. 16, 2016 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fl,..." and similar. All stating this HAD happened on Dec. 16th, 2016! Repeatedly - HAD happened Dec. 16th! I can see making A mistake - but this was nothing BUT mistakes! What's today's date, anyone?

  16. Visited the Berlin Zeiss Planetarium on Sunday. Recent renovation and new projection kit when coupled with a 25 metre diameter dome provides a stunning visual experience. Just as well as my understanding of the German language is zero and the presentation was in German without translation. Would recommend this 8 Euro ticket for a fifty minute show as serious value for money particularly if you are fluent in German. Nice health food cafe almost opposite that does great coffee and a proper cheesecake. Nice! :icon_biggrin:
