  6. I envy you guys knowledge of how to take the AVX apart - I've no idea where to start. Both RA and DEC are tight to the point of not even completing a half revolution when taken to horizontal and left to drop
  7. need to crop the 'fracs out l-r 10" f4 8" f5 130mm f5 (ish)

      Hi,

no videos I'm afraid apart from one on adjusting the gear mesh on youtube.

The guides I have seen are good though.

http://rocketsparrow.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/how-i-made-better-celestron-avx.html (be sure to read the comments at the bottom about removing the RA tensioner there are 3 grub screws to loosen first  and it needs a very small allen key)

This is the angle bearing I used on the RA although it does leave a slight gap as mentioned in some threads but it made a huge difference to RA stiction

It's easier than I thought I didn't even need to remove the RA from the mount part.

It certainly made things less sticky and balancing became a lot easier although performance wasn't much better.

      Good luck,

      Rob.

  9. Many thanks, ill give this a shot next clear non-school night - I should have posted original yesterday and be in a position to fix today ah well again thanks for this
  10. Has any one had to correct the focus of a steraense? there was a growth on the lens, which turned out to be inside - it didn’t affect operation, but my limitless wisdom I decided it should be cleaned before it got worse and the longer nights set in I wasn't careful enough in reassemble I think, and the locking rings got moved Yes i am and idiot
  11. I just took a trip to Loch Earn area, and, full moon and cloud has stopped doing anything was hoping to het a set of baseline images and measurements ah, well, I get a week in Perthshire, which can’t be bad - excluding any Astro work
  12. Thanks all the time in past year looking for such and obviously not as much success. the real question is: how much better is yours better now?
  13. Hi, i was wondering if anyone had taken the next steps and documented their tear Down?
  14. Orkney in April equinox ed80 on AVX and C8 with ST80 on CGEM-DX
  15. I'm running Celestron mounts, so, EQDIR isn't an option ??, but I've been working on that aspect and there are still issues around limiting RA/DEC to prevent cable wrap and tracking below horizon. my guide cam (qhy6) isn't supported i need to look into it specifically, but, I think the ZWO1600 is supported. Over 40 years with 'IT' , but I am getting slower in uptake. Lack of time doesnt help either
  16. ? python I have no clue about i was assembly and/or C - Ancient stuff As a Mac user, I've been considering INDI; need more investigation as there's a dearth of drivers.
  17. Is the raspberry ok.not capable of providing the necessary control to the motor without having to include the arduino? sorry, I'm about 10yrs behind on this tech ?
