I've been putting off doing it, I hate it that much.

Need to fit them tonight so I can fit the new underlay tomorrow evening as the new carpet is being fitted friday. :(

  3. It's looking highly unlikely I will have my Star Adventurer for my dark skies holiday next week. :

  4. Mmmm, thinking of turning to the darkside and trading in my C8 for an imaging scope but I know I will regret it. :(

Use the C8 for planetary imaging, and see what you think.

C8 doesn't fit on the Star Adventurer though. Plus I also have a 127mak that I can do planetary with.

  5. 'while stamping feet in a childish manner' I WANT MY STAR ADVENTURER MOUNT!

  6. Decided on a Canon 'L' lens for imaging instead of a scope.

Yeah, cheers for giving me the heads up about it. More expensive than the scope but will work out better for me in the long run.

Works well with the 1.4 and 2.0x extenders as well... and extension tubes for macro...

I've been waiting for one to come up on the used market but I think I may have to buy new as they very rarely come up.

The new Williams with field flattener built in looks good the ZS71 has a bit of blue bloat to deal with.

      hobsey

Yeah, I just don't have that sort of money though.

  8. Went to go and spend some money down at The Telescope House only to find that they are not open on Saturdays anymore. What is that all about?!

Isn't it just. Going to email them to see if its permanent. It maybe the terms to the lease on their new premises.

  9. After doing some wide field on a static tripod over the weekend, I can't wait to get my Star Adventurer.
  10. In South Wales for a few days. Looking very clear tomorrow night, chance of frost.

  11. Looking forward to getting the C8 out over the weekend. She has been locked up since May.

  12. Just been messing with EOS Utility, what a great piece of software.

I was having a play with the APT demo and couldn't get the hang of it so that's why I thought I would try EOS Utility. Glad I did.

APT really is a great program, just need to use it a couple of times to get your head around the settings and plans :)

Speak to Yoddha (on SGL) Ivo is the author - he was very helpful and the tool is far better than EOS utility once you have that initial learning curve complete.

  13. Get in! Won a 400mm camera lens on ebay ready for next weeks Redbull Air Race.

  14. I think the problem you have with the dovetail you're using is that the bar dips in the middle so there is less surface area for the camera to sit on meaning more chance of it moving. If you get the one from modern astronomy which has been mentioned which I also have, it has a flat contact area so there is less chance of the camera moving.
  15. That's it, I've just put one on back order with FLO. Just hope there isn't a shortage of any of the extras this time when they ship them over.
  16. Ha, yes. That be the one I mean. I do like the fact that the Adventerer has everything build in and don't have to sell a kidney to buy the extras you need to get good length exposures.
  17. Thanks for the input guys. I'm holding back putting one of these on back order until I have read an in depth review, its a toss up between this and the Vixen Polaris. I know there is quite a price difference between the 2 but I would rather pay the extra if the Star Adventerers niggle will only annoy me.
  18. Thanks for the info. In the last couple of hours I've managed to get the head off of my old slik88 tripod and it looks like it will do the job if not then I will give the cg5 tripod ago. I haven't got the mount yet, just planning ahead.
  19. Do you think one of these little star adventurers will fit on an AZ4 or CG5/EQ5 tripod? My Manfrotto camera tripod isn't really suitable as it doesn't have a head which can't be screwed off.
  20. Nice, shiny new wide angle camera lens has just been delivered. Can't wait to try it out.

  21. Jessops online ordering is driving me mad! Won't let me change delivery address.

  22. New wide angle camera lens on order. Bring on the milkyway shots.
