Been doing that. Got telrad charts printed off and laminated, going to be buying a sky atlas.

Waiting on telescope house to open back up at weekends so I can pop down there and buy, crayford focuser, 2" diagonal and 3 2" eyepieces.

  3. Must resist to buy an Evostar 80ED.

  4. Yes! as last! Finally got my guide cam and laptop to talk to my mount. Let the wide field imaging commence.

  5. Went to the Dunsfold Supercar event today, took all my photography with me to take some great snaps of lambos, zondas and such like. Went to take my first snap and lo and behold, I left my memory card at home. Was not happy.

  6. Just treated myself to a Canon 1100d, nice high ISO for them Milky Way shots. Not owned my 450d for very long either.

It is gettting bad when an astronomer is both waiting for and wanting clouds to appear.

I know, I got to look at something besides astrobuysell.

  8. Want to sell my C8 and CG5-GT for a pre owned CPC9.25 but I don't think my other half would be too happy.

Just say you gave the C8 steroids

  9. Typical, there's been a number of clear nights and some clear nights coming up but it doesn't get really dark until stupid o'clock.

    1. ronin

      ronin

It is not really getting "dark" until about midnight, which in turn means it is getting light about 2:00. Don't mind the short window but it is a bit inconvenient.

Its got quite a detailed building guide.

Sheer chance that I had looked for mirrors for someone and that was at the end of the page, thought it looked quite nicely made. Haven't looked at the guide - OK didn't realise they had one. May go get a copy for myself then.

  11. Thats it, hanging the scopes up for a couple months.

I got some solar film the other day but it is awful to use. Was too paranoid about damaging it or getting finger prints on it.

Couple of months wont do me any harm.

      hobsey

Cheers Martin but I will still be floating about on here. I need something to do when its quiet at work.

  12. Baader solar film is awful to use. Do yourself a favour and by a tailor made filter.

      Fozzie

Not to rub it in.... I did, thought it was lazy of me, but ive been dodging clouds all day just enjoying the sun.. looking for the best ep combo with the scope..

Defo agree, worth the money and nicely put together.

    2. hobsey

      hobsey

The film won't go to waste as I need it to make one for the finderscope.

I'm too paranoid about damaging the film.

  13. Need to move to a more astro active county, Surrey is too quiet.

    1. jabeoo1

      jabeoo1

But you will miss regular views of targets like the Dumbell nebulae........etc !

    2. hobsey

      hobsey

I don't really have the correct type of scopes for DSO.

  17. C8 has gone in for a strip down and a service.

      emadmoussa

is your C8 a pole dancer?

  18. Done my first lot of planetary imaging last night. Just looked at the results, not happy.

      tingting44

mars or saturn? whats up with the data?

    2. hobsey

      hobsey

Everything was just a bubbly mess from the heat rising from the houses and I couldn't get the focusing right. A revelation r&p is on the cards for next planetary season.

    3. jnc71106

      jnc71106

if your serious about planetary imaging then a motorised focuser is the best investment you can make

  19. All setup ready to go. Just need the sun to go to bed now.

  20. Clear skies tomorrow evening. Is there anyone from my neck of the woods going to be out?

  21. Imaging setup ready for trying out, just need clear skies.

    3. hobsey

      hobsey

      No clear skies last night.

What I meant by ready was that I've got everything now that I need to start imaging.

    4. tingting44

      tingting44

Same here I just need my gear to get delivered now so I can start imaging again , clear skies for both of us mate, but u know what comes with new gear..... Lol :(

Yeah, the C8 is just too powerful to use in residential areas. Picks up too much turbulence.

    3. michael.h.f.wilkinson

      michael.h.f.wilkinson

Not had such problems with my C8. Gets most nighttime use.

    4. emadmoussa

      emadmoussa

I had the C11, and if anything...I doubt I'll ever go back to having a Schmidt Cassegrain without having another scope as a back-up...side by side next a refractor and a reflector, the SCT failed to achieve the same amount of contrast...it wasn't that bad on planets though.

  25. Can't believe that all there is to go and look at laptops is PC World. Can't really shop around anymore.

No thanks to apple. Tesco is a good shout, won't buy on line. Prefer to be able to take it somewhere when it goes wrong.
