  1. Now that is fine craftmanship! Excellent job I love the color and finish of the wood and those proper big bearings are going to allow you great flexibility in the balance of the scope. And yes, patience is a virtue with the optician, these fast mirrors are not easy to make espc at your high spec!
  2. Ordering a VX8 f3.8 rich field from OOUK, :), 5.5mm exit pupil with the 21E and a nice 2.7 deg TFOV...

Great, I believe you'd been considering this for some time, are you planning on using the same mount as your ED120?

The mount- I'm not sure what mount to use- I wonder if a HEQ5 will work? I was also thinking of a DiskMount...any suggestions welcome Iain!

well of course what else is a lawn chair for if not for that, enjoy more of the same Gerry . Lawn chair aside, hope to be able to appreciate the Milky Way by the turn of the month.

  5. As the moon sets, the Milky Way appears, the transition is amazing.

F7 should be good, to me fast starts less than f6... Does The Eudiascopic have PC or is it neutral?

      Pig

No PC at all, I thought the name had a link with Euclidean...IE flat geometry

      Good one Stu!

I hope that society can realize the damage that is done from all this energy use and sky wrecking.

  8. Still laughing Calvin I must say though that I have a new found respect for Mr Faulk's work and an ongoing respect for Swampthings wood working skills... I had a sneeking suspicion that Mike could produce great work after seeing his Nexus fabrication... Great job guys!

It likes the OIII Pip, but for some reason I had a hard time with it- I expected a bigger nebula- this only shows as a faint steak in my 15" - give it a try! Keeping Propus out of the FOV helps..... and it wants largish exit pupil...your 24mm is perfect!

  13. Ice fishing :)

  15. The moon is calling...time to get the toys out and play :)

  16. I've been wanting a pair of these for quite a long time, I look forward to your thoughts on these Shaun. Great choice.
  17. Thank you for the honest report. I hope you get a chance to try the scope out under good skies. M31 shows detail, in particular dust lanes but for spirals try M51 under dark skies. Gerry

The daytime was very sunny & pleasant Gerry and I was hoping to catch the planet alignment tonight, but alas, the clouds arrived just as work was over :happy7:

  21. The moon is taking 435x with the Zeiss zoom/VIP and the shroud lifted half up. Excellent seeing and just learning what this scope likes...

Nice one Gerry. I love the close ups of the lunar surface as all kinds of detail becomes apparent :-) are you seeing the 3D effect ?

    2. jetstream

      jetstream

Shaun the detail and 3d around Copernicus is simply amazing, a few hours were spent along the terminator. The seeing has allowed some very sharp high mag viewing and Sirius is easily split at 101x... The orthos/VIP did a great job jousting with the zoom for first place. Trying to stay up for Jupiter.....

It all sounds pretty fantastic Gerry :-)
