What’s the scale of the vertical axis?
  3. Since I switched to EQMOD and APT, I haven't done an alignment. I connect to EQMOD and APT as usual, open PointCraft, click on SCOPE POSITION. I then just select my target within APT (I've added a long list of custom targets as a downloaded file from another forum), and it moves to that target. It often isn't right on target, so once it's solved that image, it moves again and then solves a second image. After the 2nd or 3rd go the target is in the centre by <10 pixels. And if your target isn't in APT, just enter the RA and DEC and that's it. I do run CdC via EQMOD at the same time, but I use that for info and targeting and seeing what is nearby etc.
  4. The postman brought me a belt kit for my EQ6. That’s my evening sorted.
  5. Here is the 180mm shot, handheld the other evening, Nikon D800E
  6. I took a handheld shot of the moon the other day with a 180mm lens. It's has some nice detail but it's pretty small even at that FL. 300mm should be a nice size. Please post your results, it will be nice to see.

    Hi

Hello Bill. Welcome to SGL. What part are you from? Adam.
  8. No you dont want to do anythin with them prior to that.
  9. In the tools tab, does the focal length match the telescope you are using?
  10. That's pretty darn impressive, 900s exposures.
  11. Some difference in the stacking methods. Unfortunately I don’t use Maxim or know what SD means. Id be very keen to see what difference dithering makes, that would be a nice test.
  12. I’ve just started imaging on a SA with a Nikkor 180mm. The total weight of my camera and lens and dovetail and remote trigger is 4 1/4 pounds ? (1.92kg) The lens seems to present no trouble without a bracket holder. I took this last week - 16 x 120s ISO400 F2.8
  13. Hi there! As a uk site, not many of us (still) work in pounds. 2.72kg would not really trouble the SA, as it can comfortably cope with that. The literature states up to 5kg. You don’t count the weight of the CW in this. So there is room to add a lightweight auto guider too.
  14. Thanks Ryan for that. Although it's B+W with the bayer matrix present, it does look pretty good. I think lack of dithering and calibration issues are introducing more noise than removing.
  15. Hi Ryan I downloaded both of those files, and opened them both and the integration time is 1219s and 1238s respectively. Is this a mistake? Normally when I open my stacked files it has the total integration time (for example 18000s ie 5 hours). These files look not dissimilar to a single sub of my own data.
  16. Hi Ryan. Ok, straight to the point - if that is what I got after 11 hours of data I have to say I think I would be disappointed. But all is not lost since you clearly have an excellent guiding setup! As advised, ditch the darks, do a large dither and only use bias and flats. I have no idea about the scope you have mentioned buying, apart from just looking it up and noticing the enormous price tag. The ED80 is a fantastic scope and certainly well worth persisting with. A used 0.85x SW FF for £100 will both correct the field issues and speed up the scope. If you search the forum, it is full of images taken with this scope, most of which using the field flattener (myself included). Can you post the raw stacked data TIFF here? I don’t use maxim but do use photoshop to PP. I would be more than happy to try the data, as I’m sure a lot of others on here would too. I’ve learnt so much from the forum
  17. None taken, I am definitely hangry just ?
  18. Trail run is a spelling error, it should have read trial run. Not sure what you are implying?
  19. Thanks Alan. I found four rechargable AAAs in the house, so hopefully they will do the business. The lead can also be removed from the wireless bit and plugged directly into the main handset so it can be used as a tethered option too. Partially clear skies forecast tonight, so fingers crossed for at least a bit of a trail run.
  20. This remote arrived this morning. Hoping to use this camera on my SA mount with as few leads as possible.
  21. Yes. I double checked and it was on my meteor camera at the same time. Pretty lucky!!
