  1. Thanks for the heads up @scarp15 ๐Ÿ˜Š
  2. Having lost my partner to illness and looking for something to keep me occupied of an evening, I bought myself a scope, and discovered SGL shortly after. In no time I was hacking up Xbox webcams to image Jupiter and Saturn. Twelve years later and SGL, though its members, continues to inspire, educate, and entertain me ๐Ÿ˜Š
  3. I use an AOK Swiss AYO II on a Berlebach Uni 18. No problems with vibration. However, I do find the whole experience much more enjoyable using my goto EQ5. Having the mount doing the tracking for you leaves you to just immerse yourself in the viewing experience ๐Ÿ˜Š.
  4. I had the Evostar ED80 for visual which, to be fair, I had really good time with. I was looking to upgrade to something with a little larger and optically as good or better. I saw @Mr Spock and others reviews of the Starfield 102 and Iโ€™m happy to say that it has lived up to its reputation!
  5. Thatโ€™s not good. The astronomy can wait. The stars arenโ€™t going anywhere soon. Relax and take care of yourself mate.
  6. Poor service @wookie1965 from Royal Mail, but thankfully no harm done ๐Ÿ˜Š. Iโ€™m about an hour south of you and it looks like weโ€™re in for a reasonably clear night!
  7. Hi Panos, welcome to the forum ๐Ÿ˜Š
  8. Hi and welcome @WiltshireChris ๐Ÿ˜Š
  9. Not Astro related, but welcome nonetheless ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. An 11mm Tv plossal seems to be the only eyepiece I need and it gives by far the best view. My ES 82s were good, but not that comfortable in the LS50. Neither my Baader IV zoom or SvBony 3-8mm zoom reach focus.
  11. I wouldnโ€™t disagree, but Ed might, and all Iโ€™m saying is that I can understand his point of view, even if I donโ€™t necessarily agree with him. Is that a bad thing? I havenโ€™t taken the S50 plunge myself, but I am enjoying all the creativity and ingenuity on display here from those who have.
  12. I donโ€™t have a squig in this fight, but to be fair to Ed, he seemed to me to be framing his review from a โ€˜buy onceโ€™ philosophy.
  13. You could always upgrade your rdf to a QuickFinder. The baseplate comes with some very sticky strips to attach it to your scope. Top tip: Use blue tack until youโ€™ve found your preferred location ๐Ÿ˜Š
  14. Likewise. Iโ€™m really chuffed for you @wookie1965 ๐Ÿ˜Š
  15. My Celestron one, which looks identical, takes three GP189 (LR54) batteries.
  16. I have a pair of these: https://www.astrogloves.net. Perfect when paired with a fleece with long sleeves and those holes for your thumbs ๐Ÿ˜Š
