  1. Thanks Craig. I wondered about combining the images. Never done that before so I'll have to do a bit of research first. If it works I'll post the result ! Trevor
  2. Thanks Angie. Hopefully we will all get a few more clear nights yet before they disappear into twilight
  3. Thanks Neil. The IR filter seems to work quite well
  4. They are brilliant Neil. I hope one day I can get somewhere near that and I would be very happy. In fact that would do me even if the planets were way up in the sky let alone the horizon scrapers we are currently dealing with ! Trevor
  5. Seeing was iffy but its nice to get something. Colour and 685 mono through a Mak 180
  6. Really good images. Lots of fine detail
  7. All taken yesterday about 5pm through an ED100. Some white light and some with pst business end and ERF added above the objective. Things are certainly stoking up !
  8. Still a very good image Neil despite the conditions.
  9. Lots of detail there Angie. Did you use An IR filter? Trevor
  10. Certainly captured loads of detail there Mike. Worth getting up for !
  11. Very good. I like the detail around Hadley Rille
  12. Excellent detail Neil. Looks very natural
  13. Excellent detail there Neil. Particularly like the Clavius and Tycho shots.
  14. Thanks Pete. A bit like fishing. You never know what you will get !
  15. Thanks Angie. The 685 filter seems to work
  16. Thanks Pete. Totally agree with that comment. I used to process and clear the files and often wished I hadn't. A few subtle changes in processing seem to make a big difference. Trevor
  17. Some really nice images there Neil. I think the screen debate is very valid. It’s an area that I struggle with so I’ll read all comments with interest. Trevor
  18. Very good shots there Mike. I have similar problems between screens on my laptop and PC. I am also very guilty of over sharpening and agree with your opinion that what you “see” changes over time. Seeing some of the super smooth but detailed images on this forum made me re-think what I was trying to achieve. This next comment is much more subjective and perhaps it’s only me. I have re-worked images and spent ages looking for a bit more detail, convinced myself it’s better than the first and then had to accept it’s worse and I’ve gained nothing! I also find it difficult to replicate what I see visually in an image. A refractor image in good seeing and at reasonable power seems to display more fine detail than you can take in sometimes. I wonder if we get tempted to over sharpen to try and replicate that memory. It’s great to share ideas and thoughts here and one thing I have learned from you, Neil and others is it must look natural in the final process. Very interesting comments in this thread. Trevor
  19. That’s a very detailed shot Craig. Well done
  20. Thanks again Neil. I had not really thought about the length of the capture relating to noise levels but its nowhere near 6 minutes. I’m stacking about 1200 frames out of 3600. I’ve also downloaded Winjupos and will attempt to use that in the future. I will run longer exposures next time and see what results I get. Lots to learn but it seems to be going in the right direction. All we need are clear skies !! Fingers crossed 🤞🤞
  21. Thanks Craig. I will have a look. Trevor
  22. Still wading through AVI's but having much more luck with mono than colour in Autostakkert. Does anyone know of a good tutorial ?
  23. Thanks Mike. I think I'm still learning the game when it comes to processing. There's more to it and its much more subtle than I originally thought but good to learn. Trevor
