  1. Very nice Pete. Detailed and smooth. Did you find the C9.25 needed long to cool down?
  2. That’s a good one Pete. I always find this area very difficult for some reason. Not sure why !
  3. The Cass performs very well Neil. I always look for a couple of tiny craters inside Porter which is inside Clavius as a bit of a test. And there they are ! Very realistic images.
  4. I’m still learning but have seen your work over several years Neil. I don’t think many can advise you on the best settings particularly if they look at the images you’ve produced. I’m sure the majority would agree but you always get one or two “experts” in every game. These images are some, of the best I’ve seen.
  5. Thanks Neil. Appreciate the comment. I was quite chuffed to be honest. Also pleased I didn’t miss a bit out. Ive done that several times before when I’ve tried to image for a mosaic !!
  6. Using the ASI 178 at prime focus only covered a small area of the moon at the frame size I was using. With overlap to stitch together I needed that amount of frames.
  7. Thought I would get out there earlier to miss the fog that was forecast. Seeing was much better than the 11th, here at least. About forty panes taken through an ED100 at prime focus with an ASI 178. Its a nice camera to use and I'm pleased with the detail visible when you zoom in. I use imerge to stitch the images together but there may be better software out there. I find it a bit fiddly but that may be just me ! Let me know if you think thee is better software. Thanks. Trevor
  8. They look spot on to me Neil. Very fine detail and smooth images. That Newt certainly performs . Trevor
  9. Thanks Neil. The seeing was all over the place and gradually got worse during the session. Should be clear again tonight and hopefully no fog !!
  10. Nice image as usual Mike. Looks realistic to me. Very smooth
  11. The seeing was certainly poor Neil. Nice image as usual though. I think I’m still producing final images that are often too dark. Still plenty for me to learn !
  12. Thanks Pete. I’m trying to just get what I can and stop worrying about the seeing. As we all know the UK is a mixed bag. It’s always a surprise, good or bad once I’ve dragged all the gear out and run the first file. A bit like fishing. You never know what you’ll get.
  13. Taken last night through an ED100 with x2 barlow. Seeing was poor but you have to go with what you've got. Its part of the challenge !!
  14. Seeing was very poor here last night. It was a struggle to get anything close up so decided to go for a lower res whole disc shot. About twenty frames stitched together. All taken at prime focus on an ED100. It suited the conditions. If the fog stays away there may be another chance tonight . Fingers crossed
  15. Great image from an older scope. It proves you don’t always need the latest gear to get into astronomy. It should inspire many people to have a go with whatever they have. Good detail as well in not the best conditions 👍
  16. Sounds like a good option Neil. It will let me re-process the data at a more leisurely pace and try out different methods. Should keep me amused in 2022 !
  17. Thanks Neil. I try to keep data for a while now. I had a bad habit of clearing the decks after the first process but it often seems worthwhile to have another go at a later date.
  18. Probably like most others, I have been stuck under cloud for what seems like weeks . A chance at least to look over some old data. This was taken back in May with a 180 mac but its not been stitched together or processed before. Keeps me amused while we wait for better weather !!! Happy new year to all. Terminator May 2021.bmp
  19. Looks a smart set up Neil. Really like the Clavius shots. Always a favorite area of mine
  20. Very good detailed images. Well done
