Generally the work flow is left to right in modules you just need to remember the general work flow to start off , most software isn’t intuitive without researching and reading tbh but compared to other Astro programs a bit easier than some to understand , Startools website has plenty of info on modules , and on Startools forum there is a post buy Guy on the modules and uses https://forum.startools.org/viewforum.php?f=12 ivo will respond to any questions either on here or through the forum .

You then redo autodev after wipe , first autodev high lights any artifacts , then crop the border using crop, this usually caused by stacking overlaps of multiple images so crop that out , then bin if image is high resolution, then wipe then redo global stretch using Autodev or Dev , ivo aka @jager945 will explain more clearly.

Flats issues
bottletopburly replied to bottletopburly's topic in Imaging - Image Processing, Help and Techniques
Give Nina flats wizard a shot you don’t need to set it all up , just as a comparison as to what it exposure it works your flats at ,some flats panels are dimmable though El panels are too bright out the box and need tweaking Nina tells you if light source is too bright . -

I use my 200pds on fine knob they work fine whatever suits , my focuser(deepskydad) is belt drive so belt can be slipped off if needed if you wanted to do visual, though I also have a hand controller or use my phone to operate if needed . -
Astro Photography Tool Focusing
bottletopburly replied to ThomasF1234's topic in Discussions - Software
Invest in a bahtinov mask then use the Bahtinov aid in the tools menu in APT you just need to input your fl ,camera pixel size of camera and diameter of scope then choose a bright star such as arcturus take a 6 sec exposure then place the bahtinov aid box over the bright star this will show how far out of focus you are then re adjust focus take another exposure until the aid says close or just look at the spikes lining up on screen , then focus will be bang on ,do you really need to use the Barlow ?. -

@david_taurus83Test flat using nina on the newt ,when i stretch it in Apt you can see the newt rings if it shows the rings off centre to the image centre can anyone tell me does that mean your collimation is out ? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Iqee9i0fFxQNkn7GlRv12ytrwKWUAbTE/view?usp=sharing -

You could give Startools a go free to try for as long as you like and reasonably priced if you want to buy license certainly less effort required to produce an image https://www.startools.org/ -
You can choose stellarium via Apt as your planaterium program , once you get platesolving setup becomes a lot easier especially when you use goto++ feature which will put your target in centre within a few pixels .
