    Hi All

    A warm welcome to SGL
  2. Absolutely brilliant report a pleasure to read.
  3. Brilliant Doug was clear here before I was debating whether to set up or not, looked at Jupiter with my binoculars, got my tripod out levelled it put the mount on turned around bank of cloud coming over. I should of set up earlier then I could of got at least an hour. Smashing report I will have to check but I am sure there are a couple there I have not seen so thanks for them.
  4. After reading this I took my 25mm 15mm and 8mm fully screwed up the eyecups then took them off, took the ring off under them tightened the next ring down carefully put the top ring back in place tightened them, placed the eyecups on screwed them down now no rattles on any of them
  5. Use this at the front to make it more rigid so doesn't flop in your face.
  6. I had a 8" reflector on a EQ5 and it only just managed it better to have a 6" if you want bigger either a EQ6 or Dob will be best.
  7. Just a quick one would binos work in my refractors and would I get any benefit please.
  8. Just checked backlash on both axis wow there was loads of play in them using the video tutorial I have adjusted both of them on the worm gears so I can turn the cog by hand without much resistance and no free play so only need clear skies to check it now.
  9. From reading it does sound like backlash on mine but I have had the mount at least 7 years now and I dont know how long the gentleman before me had it. One thing I will say if he treated the mount in any way like he did the 200p I got off him (Focuser was stiff, the spider vanes were bent, the secondary and primary where covered in dirt. It had been store upright with no dust cover on) I bet the bearings will need replacing. Damian (Mapstar) had to totally re-engineer the mount for as the altitude adjustment bolt had gone right under the lug that sticks down they press against. Pictures not in sequence I must rename them. The mount is smooth as butter now to change altitude.
  10. So you did not have to do any drilling I have read through a couple of posts who said you cannot get the right size and the 13mm is too big, that thread you linked to (end float) he bored the end float out before installing the bigger races as the first ones had to be wrapped with tape.
  11. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371160227212?hash=item566adf9d8c:g:IX8AAOSwDN1UPODT I wonder if these will fit look like the right ones from the description.
