  1. A great nights viewing there oh I so wish I had not sold my 8" I really was stupid I miss it for viewings like this maybe I will buy another or perhaps a bigger dob hmmm have to think about this.
  2. Yes I have been thinking of some kind of shroud or even something to block the light completely into my garden. Unfortunately I don't have my 200p anymore I regret selling that my biggest scope is the 5" refractor which I doubt I will get it in I'm going to look for some bigger bins 10x56 or bigger.
  3. Two lamps one over towards the East the one right outside my back gate is to the south and I have my house behind me, so not much to look at well plenty but with led lights no filter I can use.
  4. I have never seen M51 from home or the Leo trio with a 6"and 8"reflector or my 4" and 5" refractors that's how bad my skies are. I have a lovely pair of revelation 10x42s but use them for birds I have 10x50 olympus dp1s not the best a a friend on here sent me a pair of Tento 7x50s which are really clear. I could do with a bigger pair but don't know what to go for.
  5. Nice one Doug unfortunately I could not set up had a bad fall Saturday and cannot carry anything jarred my shoulder bracing myself when I went down backwards on some steps.
  6. Wow you must have dark skies I have 10x50 bins but cannot see half the stuff you can well done and a great read.
  7. Brilliant I was looking at them through binoculars had a bad fall Saturday so not been able to carry my kit at all. Those clusters are lovely in a scope at low power.
  8. A warm welcome to SGL
  9. I use a cctv tip positive supply for my EQ5 but I have a 10amp one to run dew strips as well.
  10. I have read the more glass the worse the view but I think that is wrong, I think it depends on the eyepieces and the Barlow you use. I rarely barlow but when I do I dont use my BST`s I use a old vixen silver top 10mm and a couple of TMB`s the 6mm especially my barlow of choice is my Tal x2.
  11. https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/advice/understanding-limits-telescope/ Read this it will explain it.
  12. What focal length are they then you can work out maximum usable magnification.
  13. If you are on android download this app. When setting up put everything you see on the screen. The date and time have to be put in the American way. Once this has been done and you have polar aligned and balanced (should be done first.) The first star will be out you have to use the handset to centre the star the second and third stars will be closer if not dead centre.
  14. Oh great obviously I won't be able to see them being as I have a 5" but I would be interested in your views.
  15. Great report some doubles I have not seen I will write down thanks.
  16. This is the one I thought it would easily turn up in the search bar sorry for the confusion. I have loads of double star pdfs and lists. I will put them in Dropbox and give you access if you DM me
  17. If you want to look at double stars then yes gives you a comprehensive list another good one is Sissy Haas double stars for small scopes.
  18. That's a nice mount I like the tripod and pier extension looks thinner than the EQ5 and HEQ5 extension.
