  1. As a owner of a a Tal 100rs and a x2 Barlow I would sell my Meade for a Tal 125 as I know how great the build is. I look forward to pictures of the scope and wish you all the best in collimation if needed I'm sure a slow and methodical approach will rectify any problems, so then I can read some fantastic reports of observations.
  2. What a really good read some really great objects there thank you for posting.
  3. To this day I regret selling my 200p cracking scope. A warm welcome to SGL.
  4. Wow great capture I've not seen the sun for a few days now enough to get my Scope and herchel wedge out. Some really fantastic images and video there though.
  5. https://web.archive.org/web/20200223041214/http://www.schlatter.org:80/Dad/Astronomy/collimate.htm Use this as a step by step as you will stop all reflections meaning you can go circle by circle to get everything lined up. As said make sure your Vane`s are all the same length and tight before starting.
  6. No I have never heard of a Cheshire collimator being misaligned.
  7. Well my Snow boots have turned up just hope they fit 😁. They do fit and got a little bit of room.
  8. If you are going to buy a top of the range laser then go for that if you plan on getting a cheaper version they usually need collimating themselves. I preferred a Cheshire/ Sight Tube never let's you down.
  9. So glad someone got out and viewed some great objects I have not been out for 12 weeks plus really hacked off. Great report some great objects and a very nice scope to boot.
  10. My go to Eyepieces are the BST 15mm and a old Vixen silver top 10mm if I need anything lower I have a couple of TMB`s but I like to Barlow the 10mm in my Tal 2x as it gives really clear views.
  11. Get a self centering adapter 2" to 1.25" never go wrong with that. https://www.altairastro.com/altair-2-inch---125-inch-self-centering-eyepiece-adapter-211-p.asp
  12. I have never been abroad furthest I have been is the Isle of Man😁. But that may change as I am getting fed up with this British weather.
  13. Most cheap lasers need collimating themselves that's probably why your laser and Cheshire did not correspond. The barlowed method is a good collimation for longer reflectors so you don't need to stretch your arms down to tweak the primary. Nothing beats a good Cheshire/sight tube IMHO.
  14. Where did you get them from Jeremy I am after a pair of them for when I'm viewing outside in the cold. Paul
  15. I've had no post for 14 days according to Royal mail there is a backlog as there is no post persons (to be politically correct I don't want to offend anyone) or sorters in my area. I was going to buy a 1.25mm diagonal with helical focuser but I have put it off until the post is back to normal I don't want anything going missing.
  16. A warm welcome to SGL
  17. I'm so jealous of your woodworking skills I'm hopeless with it. The base looks absolutely fantastic the constellations on the sides really sets it off.
  18. Great report it's so nice to read new to the hobby astronomers posting well done wait to see the planets.
