Found Venus this afternoon and grabbed this image of the 0.7% illuminated disk. The seeing was all over the place but AS and Registax provided a half decent resullt. 130mm frac, 2x barlow and ASI 178mm. Added a bit of colour to the mono image π

The Long Refractor Thread!
Debo replied to refractor2345's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
It's great to see all these telescopes, especially the old classics. This thread prompted me to dig out my old Towa 80mm F15 and spend some time giving it a bit of TLC (even got the little light working π) I had forgotten how good it looks.- 88 replies

Hi, I've been sorting out my old Topic 80mm F15 and it's equatorial mount has an odd attachment and for the life me I can't figure why it's there and what it's supposed to do. The shaft is fixed to the main body and the end part just freely turns. Anyone got a clue ? π€

A really beautiful alignment of the planets and crescent moon this evening. (Canon 60D, iso1600, 28mm, f4.5, 1/6sec)

Been eager to catch an image of this comet and with the forecast of a clear sky I made the superhuman effort and got up at half four, glad I did π₯± Here's a single 90sec exposure at iso3200 Canon 60D and 60mm F6 refractor. I did get a dozen images but couldn't get DSS to do a decent job of stacking (comet & stars).

Lots of cloud dodging required yesterday but grabbed a couple of images of 2860. The atmosphere was pretty steady for a bit and looked sharp in WL but all went to pot by the time I got round to the Ha π₯΄.
